George Lauderdale was my grandpa, Fred Lauderdale was my uncle. According to family tradition the monument company engraved the wrong date on the stone. The monument company offered a reduction in the cost to leave the date as 1901 instead of correcting it. Money was scarce and George agreed to the offer. March 25 , 1900. Fred married Monta Higgs in September 1919. Both Fred Lauderdale and Monta HIggs Lauderdale are buried in Muncie Chapel Cemetery north of Wheaton. Their only child is still living.
