On Friday afternoon we showed the photo to Donald Overton, a childhood friend just older than me, who remembers a lot about this area, I did not tell him what I thought, and he said this looks like the old church at Concord. Although they were not having church there in my childhood, 40's and 50's, Our parents, aunts, uncles and cousins, would go up every year before decoration day and clean up my Grandparents Higgs and Greatgrandparents Brattins graves. My brother and I would play around there and the old church always looked spooky to us in the late afternoon. We never went inside... it did set to the west and a little bit north part of the cemetery. and the photo looks like afternoon sun.... Donald also remembers Clark, Muncie Chapel, Hogeye AKAOverton, Corsicana and New HOpe Churches, As best as we remember Corsicana did not ever have a church at the Cemetery, New Hope never had a cemetery at the church. I went to school in the 1940's in the old Clark school and it did not face the cemetery to the west, it faced the road to the south. and the building was white clapboard but a different style. I have not been over to Mt Olive recently even though I have a great Uncle, Thomas Mcduffa Higgs, buried there. So I am not certain whether it could be Mt. Olive? Good Morning, List Readers, have you ever noticed when it rains it pours? That is what is doing here at my desk this morning. As I walk through several messages and a Trojan in among some computer problems, I hear the hammering outside and the call for me to come and help. So much for this being a restful Sunday. We have been without power for two days and will have one more day without power. So if you write to me and don't hear right back don't be alarmed, I'll crawl out from under this stack of work sooner or later. Phyllis Long has been helping me stay on top of things, but has a few computer problems of her own and that mean old boy carpal tunnel working at her house. The good news is that we have a nice photo for the week. Ralph and Betty Lamberson sent us some nice photos the other day and so I picked one of them for our feature this week. The church house in this one looks familiar. I am wondering if you think this is Mount Olive near Pioneer or if it is Munsey or maybe Concord. These Garrison Howerton photos came from Naydene Garrison Belka's collection of old photos. They were given to Larry James who gave them to the Lambersons. This from a collection of about 40 pictures. The photos have been scanned without any touch up. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/oddsnends/bryfams.htm If you want to join us on Barry County GenWeb on Face Book you can send me a note and I'll add you as soon as I can. Be sure and tell me how to find you or what address you are using for your page so I can find you. We have about 94 on there now so we are gathering up folks. There have been a lot of pictures posted this past week and the conversation range was Washburn, Seligman, Purdy, Cassville and from schools to the old days to present time. Some of the subjects were depots and mail services. What viewer talked about the Farmers Exchange in Washburn buying eggs. Geraldine Pendergraft said she used to work there but she couldn't remember how much Fred Roller paid for them. The conversation opened up a few memories of my own, because until she said it I had forgotten that she worked there and that Fred was the owner/manager. Donna Cooper
List Readers, because of our house remolding project, I will be without power a couple of days so I won't be posting anything during that time. Donna Cooper
List readers, I found the motor on my paint brush today and tried it out on siding of our new construction. The dang thing quit on me before it finished so I'll see if I can find the key for it and get going again tomorrow. The good news is that we have some very nice new photos. >From Ralph and Betty Lamberson we have a group of old photos. Some we have the names for and some we need help with. There are about ten in the Mystery Photo book - the last ten listed. The first one on the list is a tin type. There is one man that I think we've seen a photo of before. That is this one. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/photos/photo-4/7-Garrison.htm The last one in the group is of a grave in a cemetery. We need to know which cemetery it is. Could it be Mount Olive, near Pioneer? http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/photos/mystery.htm There is one photo of Clark School - no date. We don't know who the kiddos are. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/School-Book/Clark/12-Garrison.htm And then there is one of Earsel Garrison on the street in Purdy. This is a very neat photo!! http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/photos/photo-4/11-Garrison.htm They are from the Garrison - Howerton photos. They belonged to Naydene Garrison Belka's collection of old photos. They were given to Larry James who gave them to us. This from a collection of about 40 pictures. The photos have been scanned without any touch up. Thanks a ton, Ralph and Betty, wonderful photos. I hope some of them we can come up with some names for you. Donna Cooper

This is a most perplexing situation while adding people to Face Book who asked to be put on the page, somebody said that they didn't know me. So - now, according to a message I got from Face Book I have to wait seven days before I can add anyone else. I'll add you when I can.
