List Readers, I think that I have most of the Vosburg - Vosburgh ones posted - here is the list. Here are a few for you to ponder over and a few questions that be good for discussion - Among these were Patton, Garrett and Whittington names. Here is the list - Leamon and Clara (Vosburg) and Leamon Patton - Clara was Vern's daughter but who was Vern the son of and who was Leamon Patton? http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/photos/photo-4/vosburgClaraPattonLeamon.htm Vern Vosburg and fist wife - need her name - Amos Newton Garrett and ? - 1915 - Who was Vern's first wife - anybody know? http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/photos/photo-4/vosburgGarrett.htm Norman Whittington and Vern Vosburgh - and one unknown person on horses - The middle man we need a name for. Who was Norman Whittington - was he related to Retta Whittington? http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/photos/photo-4/whittingtonVosburg.htm Vern Vosburgh and Amos Newton Garrett at the creek - about 1913 http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/photos/photo-4/vosburgGarrett1.htm Retta Whittington http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/photos/photo-4/whittingtonRetta.htm Donna Cooper
List Readers, Can someone tell me who Retta Whittington is - or maybe I should say was? These photos are from Patricia Garrett's Photos. There are two different shots of her in the photos Patricia submitted. Really nice! http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/photos/photo-4/whittingtonRetta.htm And - on this photo we have one undefined person, along with Norman Whittington and Vern Vosburg. This is a great old photo, love to see horses in these old photos. It really expresses the way things were in those days. Who was Norman? Was he a relative of Retta? http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/photos/photo-4/whittingtonVosburg.htm I know that Warren Vosburgh married Eula Pearl Burris, daughter of Clay Dean Burris. Could it be that Vern was a relative of his? I had always thought that Vosburgh was spelled as given here, but Patricia has it spelled Vosburg, so I am not sure which is correct. Anybody know? I am making progress on posting Patricia's submission. Thanks so much for going an extra mile for us and for sharing with us, Patricia. A lot of people are going to benefit from your work. Donna Cooper
In this photo Patricia has Vosburgh - in another one she has it spelled Vosburg - She may be like me and not know which is correct. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/photos/photo-4/vosburgGarrett.htm This photo is of Vern Vosburgh and his first wife and of Amos Newton Garrett and someone - taken at Eagle Rock, 1915. Patricia has two unknowns in this photo so if you can help us identify the names, please do. List Readers, we are in photo heaven again. These photos listed below were added from Patricia Garrett's submission of 70 oldies - and goodies. I think I have them all about ready to post now. Patricia sent a note earlier and she says she still has more to send. Buckle up and enjoy the ride - this is going to be good! Oh, and yes, I noticed that there are only a few that she doesn't have named. There two or more on each of these pages. Sarah Elizabeth (Garrett) Ball Reed and her cow, George Reed and Sarah Elizabeth (Garrett) and family, Isaac Newton Garrett and Emma Jane (Burris) (Cole) Garrett, Solomon Peter Weaver and wife Lavicy Garrett, they married in 1860. Earlier today I posted - Amos Allen Burris, Finish Newton and Dolly (Tucker) Ball, Jacob Hart Burris - 2 different shots of him. There will be more tomorrow - And of Marie Windham's photos there was one for Dovey Louise Bailey and family - John James Payton. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/photos/index.htm Donna Cooper
List Readers, I have been working on the photos that came in yesterday from Patricia Garrett. I think that there are about 70 of them - maybe more to post. I have put the Barry County watermark on the, renamed them and have done some editing on a few. I have started posting but still have several to upload and work on yet of which I will continue adding later in the day. But for now - here is what I have posted. These were submitted by Patricia Garrett - There are four for Jacob Hart Burris - 2 of the original submission and 2 of the edited ones. I added a chart and some data about Jacob moving to Oregon. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/photos/photo-4/burrisJacobHart.htm Amos Allen Burris - 2 photos one from the original submission. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/photos/photo-4/burrisAmosAllen.htm Finis Newton and Dolly (Tucker) Ball - 2 photos - one from the original submission. I added a chart. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/photos/photo-4/ballFinisNewtonFam.htm Marie Windham sent a photo of John James and Dovey Louise (Bailey) Payton's family. This is America Simpson Simpson Wilkerson Bailey's daughter and grandchildren. I added the family chart. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/photos/photo-4/paytonJohnJamesDovey.htm In the Garrett submission I have photos with these names yet to post - Skelton, Cole, Ball, Reed, Whittington, Pyles, Scroggins, Burris, Garrett, Hall, Goins, Plummer, and maybe others. Thanks to our helpers for these nice photo additions! Donna Cooper
List Readers, Today a large collection of old photos came in for the Barry Co., GenWeb site from Patricia Garrett. They are in pretty good shape and so not a lot of work will be needed to get them posted. I have started working on them and am estimating that about 70 have arrived thus far and do know that most are for Eagle Rock folks. The names that I have seen on them are Cole, Burris, Garrett, Garner, Ball, Reed, Goins, Whittington, Vosburg, and several other others. As soon as I can get them organized and prepared I will start posting them to the web. It might even be tomorrow, but keep an eye open and I will fill you in later as I progress. List Readers, if you can help Bobbi it would be greatly appreciated. She is having difficulty finding information on her Barry County ancestor. Bobbi, you might want to join our list so that you can talk directly to our readers. I have information that he lived in Barry County, Missouri in the 1870’s and was living there in the 1880’s when he passed away. But, that is all I can find out. He lived in Roaring River, Flat Creek and White Water, all in Barry county. Ms. White suggested you may be able to assist me with the Ancestry.com link. She Might try the Museum at Colcord, OK, Just across the OK line from Gentry AR. They have a nice growing museum, good genealogy section, and many good books on their shelves for sale. Also very cooperative librairians and docents.... I do not have their email directly at hand but I imagine you could locate them at Google. It is called the Talbot Library and Museum .....I found their email( talbotlibrary@earthlink.net) Or www.talbotlibrary.com Or she might try Gregath publishing in (Grove?) Eastern OK They have many Genealogy books listed in their catalog Look online for them.... List Readers, Barry County lost some old timers and so I added some new obits today. Phoebe Doris (Goodall) Rose, Mary Francis (Tucker) Higgs, 103 years old Artie Grace (Haddock (Reams) Tucker, Nancy Jean (Ward) (Jagger) Henbest, and Leon Henderson. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/data/obits.htm For William Cannon's Civil War pension papers - Susan Crawford added a new mailing address and I linked this page to the Civil War pages. We had some new Monett - IOOF photos submitted by Connie Schmidt that we will be working on in the days to come. Thanks to all to our helpers. Donna Cooper
List Readers, today I added a neat basketball photo for Mineral Springs area schools, dated 1935-1936 so I thought we'd feature it for next week. Linda Skelton Corbin shared it with us. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/oddsnends/bryfams.htm Also Phyllis Long is working on Mt. Pleasant and has some more pages posted. She is adding the new names from the temporary files as she goes. So, if interested in that cemetery you might want to take a look. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/cemetery/mtpleasant/mp.htm This is a busy time of the year but a lot of new things were posted on Barry County Group pages this past week. There was discussion of some of the obits and photos that were posted.. Artie Grace Tucker, age 99, of Clearwater, Kansas, formerly of Exeter, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2011, in Clearwater Nursing and Rehabilitation. - Artie was born February 8, 1912, in Exeter, Missouri, the daughter of Charles and Florence (Moore) Haddock. On January 27, 1934, she was united in marriage to George Reams and to this union three children were born. George preceded her in death on December 5, 1985. In 1988, she married Tom Tucker, who passed away on August 24, 2000. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Ray Reams; six sisters and four brothers. The old house project is progressing. We are working in the kitchen now. Since we passed all the city inspections and are on our way to bigger and better things. I hope that you are doing well with your Santa list and not like me with not much done! Donna Cooper
Jay Trace has been high jacked. I removed him from the list mail group. He will need to get a new address before he can join up again. Don't open the message that was just sent from his address. One more time - viruses, malware, and spyware are not the same thing. High jacked addresses are coming from computers with maleware. Malwarebytes is a free program and works great. Donna Cooper
List Readers, I just added a new photo to St. John's Lutheran for Andreas Rehwinkle who was born in 1844 in Germany. Here is John's message - Andreas Rehwinkle's headstone at St John's Lutheran, Stone's Prairie Cemetery. It was somehow omitted when you took your photo's. He was the husband of Alvina Rehwinkle, whose photo is included in the collection. They had separate stones and locations, for unknown reasons. Andreas was born in Germany. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/cemetery/stjohns/stjohns-2.htm Donna Cooper
