    3. Hi Jack, Since Abraham Forrest had some Flys in his household in Barry County I was wondering what the odds were that his first wife Jane might have been a Fly? Bob -----Original Message----- From: Jack Fly Sent: Tuesday, December 13, 2011 8:55 PM To: mobarry@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [MOBARRY] Fly-Forrester? As far as I know the Flys and Forrest families knew each other, possibly neighbors in Tennessee. I haven't found a marriage connection between the families. I have the following notes: Elisha Fly and family left Gibson County, Tennessee in October of 1832 with Watson and Abraham Forrest and their wives. They all traveled in one wagon drawn by cattle. They soon fell in with James Kennedy, who, with his wife and four children were in a wagon drawn by horse. They settled on Slavin's Creek, in what is now Greene County, Arkansas. They remained there for three years. Jack Fly On Mon, Dec 12, 2011 at 8:38 PM, Bob Foster <rfoster37@cox.net> wrote: > Does anyone know anything about a possible Fly-Forrester/Forrest > connection? 3. Although FINE wasn't the surname I was searching in Barry County, I remembered coming across some FINE photos while looking for info about my SOLOMON/JOHNSON/TIPPER ancestry. When I checked the names, I had some in my database. My information comes from the book "FINE LINES." When I went looking at the Barry Co website, the first thing I remembered to check was the obit for Joseph Madison FINE. The book FINE LINES pretty much stopped at Abraham FINE (2nd gr-grandfather of David A FINE & gr-grandfather of Joseph Madison FINE). This line descends from Thomas FINE m. Agnes MERCHANT through their 4th child/son Capt. John B. FINE. My line is through their 9th & final child, David FINE m. Ann CORDER, and a descendent of theirs married my 2nd-gr-grandfather William Thomas SOLOMON, son of John and Nancy JOHNSON SOLOMON. I wanted to search further on the Barry Co website, but I keep getting reminded that my dinner is getting cold. The book is packed away and in storage now, but I had pretty much transferred the contents into my PAF so I can share whatever anyone wants. 3. List Readers, When I was in Sweden several years ago, the local radio station was playing the country music song Grandma got run over by a reindeer. To make a long story short, the Swedes thought it was a funny song because in that little town, up near lap land, sometimes Grandma really did get run over by reindeer - even in the summertime. The father of the household told me "As for him and Grandpa they believed" and so that was why his smokehouse was full of smoked reindeer meat. It wasn't Christmas time - it was the 4th of July. But when I was ready to depart, my host family filled my suitcase with reindeer meat and cloud berries. They said to give me a safe journey back to the states. In case you wonder what I was doing in Sweden - I worked with a Student Exchange Program and had taken 50 students home and my last stop was in Sweden. I thought of that today while in Wal-Mart and they played - you guessed it - Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer. Okay, down to business. Patricia Garrett sent us a couple of Eagle Rock School photos. On the 1921-1922 I had trouble reading the list so if you see any mistakes, please let me know. She has most of them - but not all - named. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/School-Book/Eagle-Rock/1921-1922EagleRock.htm On the 1913-1914 Eagle Rock School we don't have but a few names. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/School-Book/Eagle-Rock/1913-1914EagleRock.htm Thanks, Patricia. 3. List Readers, tonight I am still trying to do catch up from today's backlog of web work. As you know Phyllis Long is working on Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. She has now finished with the R page and I have it on the web. She is going to be working on Monett when done with the updates of this one. Connie Schmidt sent us a lot of new photos for the Monett and so there is going to be a lot of work to do on that one, too. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/cemetery/mtpleasant/mp10.htm On Patricia Garrett's photos I still have a lot of them left to post, but I am making progress. Isaac Newton Burris was married in Barry County, MO, to Zarilda Virginia Cole, Jan 05, 1888, daughter of Absolum Thomas and Eliza Jane (Hicks) Cole. He married Mary Mae (Bouyear) Crow in Barry Co., MO, on 7 Oct 1903. This photo was taken in 1908 so this is his second wife. Pictured are: 1. Daisy Mae Burris Greek LeCompt, 2. Isaac Newton Burris, son of Asahel, 3. Mary Bouyear Burris Sharp, 4. Leonna Crow Burris Payton, daughter of Mary from pervious mar. 5. Andrew "Bud" Burris, 6. Noel "Pet" Burris, 7. Mary Frances Burris Hickey Cody, 8. Rosa Burris Sharp Smith. I would like to know the Payton connection. Could this person be a part of the Simpson family group? Also, Mary Margaret Simpson's husband Richard Thomas Cole was a brother to the first wife of Isaac. I am wondering if any of you might have a photo of him - or better yet one of his children. Since it is the Christmas season, I will stretch my luck and go ahead and ask if any of you might have a photo of John Simpson. Mary Margaret Simpson's sister America Simpson's first child, John Simpson and he lived with Clay Dean Burris or with Clay Dean's wife's parents. The Isaac Leakey family might have been where he was living. Do any of you have a photo of any of these people that you could share with us? http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/photos/photo-4/burrisIsaacNewton.htm CC: Bob Akins, Carolyn Hess Thanks to our helpers. 3. Hi, I have posted the photo with your question and so maybe someone will see it who can help. We have several Woodard researchers on the list mail so I am sending them an alarm - a cry for help. lol. It might be one of them will know what names go with the faces.  I will also pass it on to Geraldine Pendergraft - she is part of the Lot Banks family and could have had some memory of this part of the Woodard family. Another idea is that you might contact Bonnie Winchester, widow of Bill Winchester who is a daughter of John Marion Woodard. She is in her 80's and lives in Rogers, AR. I don't know if she would have known any of these people or not, but will take a guess and say that she probably did. One relative described her as having a memory like a "steel trap".   http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/photos/photo-4/woodardFam.htm Donna Cooper >________________________________ > From: Mary Jane Davis <mjdavis@centurylink.net> >To: donnac58@yahoo.com >Sent: Sunday, December 11, 2011 6:48 PM >Subject: Picture > >Hello Donna,  I need help in identifying the people in the attached photograph.  The lady setting in the chair is Sara (Spurlock) Woodard born 1850.  The lady on Sara's right is Margaret (Woodard) Northcutt born 1874.  The person on the far right of the picture in the very back, I think is Silas M. Woodard born 1872.  These people probably are brothers and sisters.  I can not put a face with a name.  I hope you can help me. >Thank you, >Mary and Gary Davis > > >

    3. "Vern" may be Harlow Avern "Vern" Vosburgh who married Effie Alyea and 2d Edna Marshall. He was the son of Harlow Abram Vosburgh and his wife Allie Bishop (both Harlow Abram and Allie Bishop Vosburgh are buried in the Munsey Cemetery, Eagle Rock., Barry Co., Mo). Their last name is spelled Vosburgh on their tombstone. Norman S. Whittington born Sep 27, 1897 at Eagle Rock was the son of John Cloud Whittington and his wife Elsie McQuire. He married Florence M. Zimmer. His grandparents were John Whittington and his wife Margery A. Maloney. Norman's great grandfather was Benjamin Whittington. Retta Whittington's Grandfather was William Whittington a brother to Benjamin Whittington who was the Great Grandfather of Norman S. Whittington. Both William and Benjamin Whittington as well as my Great Grandmother Lucinda Whittington Maloney were the children of John Wesley Whittington and his wife Catherine David Whittington who orignially settled in the King's Prairie area. William and my Grandmother Lucinda are buried in the Whittington Cemetery near Eagle Rock., Mo. Retta's parents were Richard and Elsie McDougald Whittington. Retta was born Feb 8, 1902 and married Fred James July 6, 1918. Richard and Elsie ran the Eagle Rock General Store at Eagle Rock for many years.
