Fairview Baptist Church was located about 1/2 mile from Sparks Cemetery. Perhaps someone just mixed up the names. ----- Original Message ----- From: Alice Allen To: mobarry@rootsweb.com Sent: Monday, September 03, 2007 5:47 PM Subject: Re: [MOBARRY] Featured Photo & Newspapers It was the same person even tho part of the date in different. Alice: I pulled up the hard copy of the obit and it does read Sparks, but I see that her death certificate reads Fairview. Wasn't her husband buried in Sparks? No, but I guess it would be good if it was. I think this is a very useful list and might help us name some of our unnamed ones. Good Evening: I have more exerts from the newspapers typed and online for you tonight. Among the data that I typed was one paper that had all the Barry County 8th grade graduating students listed. For that listing you should look in the May 17th paper of 1917. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/news/index-7.htm Donna Cooper
I've noticed that the early death certificates that I'm getting from the MO Death Index lists other names for the cemetery. For example, my mom is from Blue Eye, MO and lived right there on the stateline road, by the Blue Eye Cemetery. I found some of her ancestors buried in the "Butler" Cemetery. I couldn't find a cemetery by that name on the MO Stone web site. A little digging, and I found out that was the old name for the Blue Eye Cemetery. That may be what is happening here....perhaps the cemetery has had other names over time? I read a couple of the newspapers and found a family name. Katherine Patton. I have her buried in Fairview Cemetery. Is that the same as Sparks Cemetery (which the newspaper has listed). Thanks Alice ----- Original Message ----- From: Donna Cooper To: mobarry@rootsweb.com Sent: Sunday, September 02, 2007 9:34 AM Subject: [MOBARRY] Featured Photo & Newspapers Good Morning: Our featured photo for this week is one that Don Cummons shared with us some time ago. He sent me three disc of old photos that were from his mother's photo album and this photo was on the disc. He said that his mother used to take out the photo book and tell a story about each of the old family photos. It sounded like she used the photo book like a story book. I thought that was such a wonderful idea and it was a neat way to teach the little ones about the family that they had once lived. He said he wanted to share her photos with others so they could enjoy them, too. The photo that I have featured is one that features the Haddock and Tucker families and it was taken in the Eagle Rock area of Barry County, and was taken about 1905. It has pictured descendents of Charles Haddock, Jr. and his second wife Susan (Meyers) (Rumbaugh) Haddock. Susan was a Delaware Indian and was first married to Solomon Rumbaugh. Charles is also my ancestor, and is my 2nd great grandfather, but with his first wife, Sarah Collins. The Haddock family in the featured photo are descendants of Charles and Susan's son Richard Ransom "Rance" and Sarah (Browning) Haddock of the Eagle Rock area. Charles Kennion Tucker, husband of Nora Haddock, is also in the photo and he was a descendant of Francis Marion and Emma (Thornton) Tucker. Also in the photo from the Tucker family was Rose Tucker, a daughter of Frank and Emma Tucker's. She married George R. Haddock, a minister, and a son of Rance and Sarah (Browning) Haddock. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/oddsnends/bryfams.htm Charles Haddock, Jr., lived in the Hudson Bottoms, near New Site, or Walnut Grove, and was murdered by bushwhackers in 1862. ------------------------------------ Be sure and check out the newspapers. Dear Barbara, I have been working on photographing IOOF for a couple of months now, and am down to the last few hundred to do. I suspect, as I don't have a great deal of free time to complete this project, that I should be done in the next couple of weeks and will mail the discs full of photos to Donna for insertion to the MOBARRY site. Hang in there. Barbara: Our dedicated cemetery worker, Jay Trace, has been working on IOOF for several weeks. He is now working in the new section, and has a pretty big portion of it done. It is very a active cemetery and has over 5,000 graves. It will take some time for him to do it and then it will take me even longer to put it on the web, but in time it will find its way to the web. List Readers: I notice in the May 5th of 1917 in the Cassville Democrat that it was mentioned that some bones were found near Shell Knob. "Shell Knob: Thos. Painter, while working the roads recently turned over some rocks and found the bones of a human being or which is supposed to be the bones of two men placed there many years ago." I was wondering if any of you might have some clues to this mystery? Donna Cooper

Notice; The article I posted about Charles Hulsey killed in Cassville, post date; Wed, 22 Aug 2007; I have found out from family historians, that the story was concocted to cover up the fact that Charles abandoned his family to go to the gold fields in California. His travels and life have been well documented by other family researchers. In California he married twice and had 5 additional children. He had a great "life after death" in Missouri. As for grandfather Boyd, He died a natural death in Ark. Never know what skeletins will come out from the closet until you open the door. My apologize for posting this inquiry, and any harm from doing so. Fred Sheman
Does anyone know where Matilda Young is buried (wife of Alfred Young; daughter of James and Martha Patsy (Yarbor) Weathers? Thank you Linda
Good Evening: Earlier today I finished typing March 1917 of the Barry County newspapers. Now I am ready to begin on April and will probably do that this week-end. In those papers were some nice obits and also the circuit court minutes, too Be sure and check these new items out, because I remember typing several obits that I know some of you are going to be interested in. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/news/index-7.htm Have a good and safe week-end. List Readers: Fasten your seat belts. I just got word that Diana Cope has completed the photos for Old Carney Cemetery. In an early e-mail I told you she had finished doing McKinney and Quaker. This is really wonderful news and I will be posting the photos as soon as I get them. Thanks so much, Diana, for all you do, a lot of folks are going to benefit from this work. Donna Cooper
Good Evening: I just got a message from Diana Cope. She says that has finished the photos for both McKinney and Quaker Cemeteries. This is such great news, Diana!
