List Readers: There are some new items in the Stubblefield Cemetery today. Jay added some notes on Eubanks, Wilson, Fare and maybe some others, but those are the only ones I have on my list. You might want to take a look. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/cemetery/stubblefield/stubblefield.htm And on the newspapers another couple of weeks were added late last night and early this morning. There were some nice obits in those papers that some of you might want to see. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/news/7/index-7.htm Work on the obits continues. Hang in there - we'll get them all back up and on the web as soon as we can. Nothing has been deleted. Donna Cooper
List Readers: For those of you who are yelling at me about the obits - your obits have not been removed or deleted - and we will have them back on line as soon as we can get them back up and working again. It takes a long time to move and link up 3000 obits, please be patient with me. There is only one of me and so I ask for a volunteer to help. And a very kind volunteer is helping out with these. Her name is Stefanie Forester and she is very capable. It just takes time to a project like this one. We hope that it will be better for you when it is finished, and that you will have more room to store more obits with a better viewing ability. Again, please be patient - your yelling hurts my ears. Can't make out the stone, what or where is Thomas Hollow? I am searching for the burial site of my great, grand mother Etta Garland Thomas, wife of Elisha Jaggers Thomas. My information is that she died in Apr 1925 in Barry County, but I can't find a death certificate. I know that in Lee Ann Cemetery there is a small un marked stone next to E J but don't think this is her place. Etta, Henrietta at birth, married second to Eli Young Foster and moved briefly to Oklahoma with him. Any help would be apprecaited. "I think now is a good time to mention the resolution size of cemetery photos" If you have Windows XP you can resize a batch of photos at one time. Holding down the ctrl button on your keyboard select the pictures you want to resize. Then right click your mouse button. You should get a popup that has sevearl things you can do in it. Scroll to resize picture and click it. Another box opens with different sizes to choose from. The small will reduce a 609 kb picture to a 78.4 kb. The large will reduce it to 158 kb. There is also an advanced button you can click and a place to check if you just want to resize the pictures and not make copies of them. Hope this helps someone. Whether one uses a digital camera, or scans pictures taken with a 35 mm, most, if not all, photo editing programs have a way of re-sizing the pics without losing the higher resolution. -------Original Message------- From: Frances Black Date: 9/12/2007 6:26:49 AM To: mobarry@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [MOBARRY] Newspapers I agree with Cheryl. Frances, Why not crop (since I'm new to digital cameras?) I had a tombstone of a young girl (about 14) and on her headstone, there was a picture of her. So I got a close up of that and uploaded it into the computer. Then I cropped it so it was just her, without the lettering on the sides. This was not a good thing to do? How come? (to help me understand the process). Thanks, Cheri Mello Torrance, CA On 9/12/07, Frances Black <frances_b_65705@yahoo.com> wrote: > > I agree with Cheryl. I did what you are doing too for the first 1000 or so and then while visiting Darla Marbut I learned that all I had to do was change the setting on my camera. She set my camera for me and then I was set for pictured taking. I saw later that it was pretty simple - I just had thought that it was a difficult task. I really felt dumb because I had to go back to the web site and reduce the size on two full cemeteries that I'd already done. So - it's not something that I knew either until I made a lot of mistakes. So I volunteered on Find-A-Grave to take photos of cemeteries where I live (Torrance in Los Angeles Co). They want less than 250 KB for their site. Since I'm new to digital cameras, I was using Photoshop to save the pictures and reduce the file size, one picture at a time. I'll check the book (my dad saved everything, including the box!) and look for resolution size. Thanks for the tip! Oh, my, Betty, take my foot out of mouth for me. I am so sorry that you thought I meant you. You sent some me today and they were fine - in fact they were perfect. Donna C, I just got a hand-me-down digital camera from my dad.
