    1. [MOBARRY] Cemetery News - Photos
    2. Donna Cooper
    3. List Readers: This is too good to keep. Thanks to our conversation the other day, I found there is a service pack for resizing photos that goes with XP. And one that I didn't have on my computer. I was doing the resizing like Nancy explained in her e-mail, given below, but had to do each of them in a photo program - because I didn't have the service pack for windows that does this automatically and fast. I went to Windows XP and found it. So, THANK YOU, NANCY, for this eye opener. You have saved me hours and hours of work and maybe even have helped me deal with the carpal tunnel that I've been fighting for the last few months. I just want to say to all of you - PLEASE SEND WHATEVER SIZE OF PHOTOS THAT YOU CAN GET - BECAUSE IT IS NO LONGER A PROBLEM!!!!!! I just resized 360 photos in a few minutes. And - so now they are ready to load on the web! It was so easy. Again, thanks to all of you for all your hard work and for sharing your cemetery photos with us. Your faithful and delighted cemetery worker, Donna Cooper ------------------------------------- Nancy Wickam wrote this to us a few days ago. If you have Windows XP you can resize a batch of photos at one time. Holding down the ctrl button on your keyboard select the pictures you want to resize Then right click your mouse button. You should get a popup that has several things you can do in it. Scroll to resize picture and click it. Another box opens with different sizes to choose from. The small will reduce a 609 kb picture to a 78.4 kb. The large will reduce it to 158 kb. There is also an advanced button you can click and a place to check if you just want to resize the pictures and not make copies of them. Hope this helps someone. Nancy Wickam

    3. Carrie is still single, age 18, living at home with her parents in the 1900 Newton Co. MO. Census, Van Buren Twp., District 113. As I stated in the prior posting, the 1910 Census says she and Dillard Yoachum were married 8 years, and first marriage for both. Dillard died in 1946, and in her obituary from the Joplin Globe, dated Sunday, May 11, 1952, it says her husband pre-deceased her. Carrie Elizabeth Reynolds was born in Newton Co. MO. On Sept. 22, 1881, and died at St. Vincent's Hospital in Monett, Barry Co. MO. On May 9, 1952. No children are on any census with her and Dillard , thus my dilemma in the listing of 8 children surviving her. My guess is, based on siblings listed in the 1900 Census, is that they were siblings rather than children. Hoping someone knew for sure, but that seems to be the case.Wilma -------Original Message------- From: Judy Vietri Date: 9/13/2007 7:36:04 PM To: mobarry@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [MOBARRY] Dillard Yoachum's wife, Carrie Reynolds Yoachum What year was Carrie Elizabeth born and where? Maybe in 1900 she was Mrs. Reynolds. There are 20 Reynolds in 1900 Barry and 2 Elizabeths but No Carrie. What are the sons first names? Maybe you can track them Back to a particular family. Were those sons in the 1910-1930 Barry Co. Census. It's pretty common for people not to tell the census taker they were Previously married. Also have you tried for a marriage record to see if She married as Reynolds or some other name? I didn't see a George Reynolds in 1900 Barry except one born in 1898. Her husband, Dillard Yoachum died in 1946. They are both buried at Clear Creek Cemetery, near Berwick in Newton Co. MO. There are two sons and six daughters surviving Carrie. Except for a daughter at Pierce City in Lawrence Co. Now here is something interesting. Dillard & Carrie are found in the 1910 1920, and 1930 Barry Co. MO censuses, but NEVER any children listed! The 1910 Census also states this is a first marriage for both, and they were married 8 years at the time the census was taken. Her obit also states she had lived in Pierce City for 1 1/2 years. Any clarifications and help is appreciated. Wilma

    2. Thanks for responding. Oral, and census records, indicate that the Thomas bunch was back in Barry County for 1920 census, except I cannot find Etta. My grandmother Ida, she died in 1964, recorded a famiy history sheet and stated that Etta died in Apr 1925. An aunt , who would have been abt 18 at the time, told that my grandfather held her in his arms and wept while she lay dying. This family still lived in Barry County at that time. Have not been able to find death certificate. In the Oklahoma Census for 1910, the 12 year old is Nellie and the 18 year old is Minnie who married a ?Turner. Can't find any documentation for these two except that my mother says her father, William Francis, son of Elisha and Etta, anyway that Nellie and Francis took part in a medical study at Tulsa around 1930 (for several years) for their intestinal medical issues. Francis died in 1937 and is buried at Smackover, Union County, Arkansas. I went to Okfuskee County for a look see, there are some Thomas buried at the old cemetery there, will have to go again as have lost some records. It is a most serene area. I know one of Eli's daughters lived near there at Mason, I think for a while. Still looking. One can never tell when some lead with open the flood gates.
