That is a wonderful picture of the Henderson group. My Dad, Ted W. Keeling was a musician as his grandfather James Monroe Keeling. I have pictures I will be sending soon to Donna to post of James M. Keeling and his fiddle. I am a musician myself and a singer. I have played for the last 6 plus years to senior facilities. Before that I have played for churches and the public since I was 13. I can really appreciate this wonderful photo. Thanks for sharing this picture with us. Does anyone know how I can get in touch with the person in charge of the clay hill cemetery south of Aurora? I am trying to get information on a Dorothy E Treat whom is buried there died December 07,1992. Thanks Rolanda
List Readers: Here are a couple of pictures that I have posted for you today The first one was submitted by Jay McCandless of Pioneer School, about 1932. This is a wonderful old photo and I hope that some of you will fill in the blanks for us. I bet some of you have grandparents pictured here. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/schoolbook/schools/pioneer.htm The other one is a photo of the Henderson and Lowery group of musicians. Linda Stephens McCormick submitted it and was probably taken about 1900. Can t you just see these folks all dressed up and playing their instruments? Both of these photos are unusually nice and add a lot to our county history and knowledge. If you connect to people in either of these photos, I think that this is probably your lucky day. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/photos/photoalbum2/henderson.group.htm A big thanks to Jay and Linda for sharing their photos with us. Monett IOOF has about 80 photos posted from Jay Trace's work. This is a certainly a masterpiece and when we get it all on the web it will knock down a lot of brick walls. Thanks for all you do, Jay. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/cemetery/monett/monett.htm My dream is to have a photo of all our early pioneers on the web site because I think that it will help a lot of researchers. Once you see what your ancestor looked like they no longer are a cardboard figure or a name or number on a page, they suddenly become real people for you to understand and for you to get to know better. If you can help with that project, your efforts will greatly appreciated by a lot of people. Now, I must pack for my trip. My mail box is full - but when I get back home I will try and post from it some more. Keep up the good work! Donna Cooper
Nora: I really don't know how you to answer your question. But, there are no courses for being a coordinator, anyway that I know of. I suppose the important things to know would be to understand how to be build web pages, have a lot of free time that you could devote to it and have an interest in genealogy. And for it to be exciting and rewarding to you, it really should be a labor of love, and not done for any selfish reasons. Because your only pay is knowing the joy you added to someone's life and that it came from your very own labor. That is why that it really hurts deep down when someone steals your work and takes it and posts it on another web site with their name on it. That is when you are reminded that not everyone appreciates and respects what you and other researchers work so hard to do, and that all people are not honest Thank goodness skunks like that are far and few in between and most people do honor your many hours of labor with an acknowledge of whose work they used, borrowed or in some cases stole. People can say what they may, but I know that it takes a lot of people who are willing to help out - otherwise you can't possibly be a good coordinator It is impossible for you to do it by yourself. And - I do see why some folks commit to the job and then do nothing - it is a lot easier just to sit on the position - than it is to work. In the past few years, I've seen some counties that have had no posts made to them for months. Some of those sites I've visited over and over, time and time again - hoping that maybe there was a just one new post - and that maybe there would be just one little crumb posted that would help me solve my puzzle. But for some reason and in some cases, it never seems to happen. Most of you know what I mean by that comment. On the Barry County site we have added about 5500 pages in the time that I have been coordinator. I started with 1180 pages Jan 12, 2006. But, I am a lucky coordinator - because we have some awesome workers who really love Barry County and they work hard to get accurate records for me to post. If we had college courses for being a coordinator - I think that our state colleges would go broke, because not many people would want a job with long hours and no pay. Jane My Davidson line came to Barry Co. about 1854. This family was from Levi Davidson of Perry Co., TN. (1799-1851). I don't know who Levi's parents were. Levi Davidson apparently was married three times. The first family consisted of Alvoree and Josiah Davidson. Alvoree was in Christian County. Josiah in Barry County. Josiah married to Elizabeth Caroline DePriest. There was also a Rachel Davidson who was married to George A. Dabbs. Rachel died in 1854 and was buried in Perry Co. His second family was Cyrus and Abraham. Cyrus was my great-grandfather. His last wife was Sarah Lamberson Davidson and she had: Letsy, Mary (Polly), John, Levi, Thomas, Mary, Nancy and Ann. I think there is a connection to William J. and Rhoda Keeling Davidson, but I have been unable to find it. If you want any more informataion, let me know.
