Good Morning: Last night I posted several new photos and want to say thank you to both Linda Stephens McCormick and Frances Albert for this nice submissions and for sharing with us. This one was from Linda and it is of the Purdy Seniors 1926. Those all came from Linda Stephens McCormick and I am very glad to have these on the web site. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/Cassville/index.htm The main new one on the page is one of a street in Cassville in 1910. This is a treasure and is our featured photo for this week. Linda sent us one of the old DX Station in Cassville. This photo was taken in the 1950's and pictured are Albert "Pete" and James "Spiz" Stephens. I bet a lot of you remember this place - that's if you are as old as me. [smile] There was one of the old music store. This store I do remember well, because I bought a record player there when I was about 15 years old. Truman and Mary Frances (Horine) Baker owned it. Linda said that they had the best cherry cokes and milkshakes. I remember something about the cokes but not the milkshakes. And there was one of the old Cassville hospital. It is a post card and reads on back: "Dr. Mary lives in the tip-top of this" This was the former LeCompte residence on north Main Street in Cassville, built in the1880's. Dr. George Newman converted it to a hospital in the 1930 s. In 1939 "Dr. Mary" Northcutt began a medical practice in Cassville, married Dr. Newman, and together they operated the Barry County Hospital until his death in 1949. Dr. Mary closed the hospital about 1950, and the building was demolished in the mid 1950's. And most importantly a lot of us were born there, including me. Frances Albert sent us two nice photos - one is of the sons of Thomas Hayward Brattin. In researching for a Smith family, have found George H Smith, mo dc # 12054. It states that he died April 14, 1918 , buried in Westbury Cemetery, and signed by King at Monett. Person giving info on George Smith was Mrs. C. M. Hagan. of Monett. George Smith married Lena Lawson at Pierce City, 29 Mar 1885. Son of William Harris Smith Cannot find a Westbury cemetery in the listing. Has the name changed or not been canvassed? Or is it in another county?
