    3. Thanks Julie for replying back and the info. Maybe this will help. Debra Julie S <julieskc70@yahoo.com> wrote: There are apparently a couple of different Black families in Barry/Newton.. Robert Black & Susannah Shaw came through Reynolds Co Mo ca 1845, then to Shoal Creek, Barry Co ca 1858. An online genealogy ( 1 of at least 3 different sets Parents) shows Spencer Black as his father and died in Iron county, an adjoining or separated county of Reynolds.. Spencer died 1855. There are no obits , or wills before 1857, but there several Black under family group sheets, that show some Black families in Newton County pre 1858.. and associated with Iron/Reynolds county. Reynolds Co must have been a stopping point for wagon trains with families moving on to Barry County. Those of you with Black family ancestors might want to also look at this county and Iron for further info. And other of Reynolds county might also want to check Iron county.. julie __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! 1. Re: [MOBARRY] MOBARRY Digest, Vol 2, Issue 346
    2. Hi list. I receive this in digest form, on AOL. Unlike Outlook Express, AOL does not set up the "from" address as an active link. Therefore, you can go through the copy and paste routine. Just highlight the address, use the copy command then, after opening your new email, post the address in the "send to" box. This allows you to respond individually without broadcasting to the entire list. Thanks for reading. Jim ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com

    3. Jane: Here is a link for what we have on the site. The map photo given on the page that I have the link for is one that Darla Marbut submitted and it shows that the stage first stopped at John Smith's place on the northeast side of the county . Then it stopped at the Crouch's place - not far from Butterfield. It stopped last at the Harbin house, which was located near Rock Springs. That was the Old Wire Road and it went on going westward until it came out at the Elk Horn Tavern, which is now located in the military park at Pea Ridge. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/oddsnends/stagecoach.htm We have so much history in our little county. 3. There are apparently a couple of different Black families in Barry/Newton.. Yahoo! 3. HI Julie, I really know nothing about Abel except he come from NC. He was almost 30 yrs. older than my 3rd Gr.Grandmother Charity aka Charlotte Baze, Ross. It shows on the 1850 Barrry Co. Flatcreek Twp. that he was a neigbor to her as she was widowed on that census. On those census it showed he had 2 daughters and apparently was living with a lady younger than he was as she was head of household. So, that could have been a sister, a cousin or someone in relation to him. After he and Charity got married, she raised those 2 daughters even after Abel was murdered in 1864 by Charity's 2 nephews. The only thing I dont understand is this.......... Abel was also in the Civil War, I believe in the First ARk. Calvary Union Soldier as well as his two stepsons, who were John Alexander Ross, b. 1843 in Barry Co. and Hiram McDonald Ross, b. 1845. Hiram was killed in action in Cassville on Sept. 22, 1862 at age 17. Charity decided to file for a Mothers Dependant Pension from HIrams records, but never received it cause she couldnt prove the death of her first husband who was James Ross, the boys father. So, why didnt she file a claim on Abel Black after his death instead of her sons death. Was it because Abel didnt die in Action?? Altho...family lore says, that Abel was a southern sympathizer and did not like his stepsons, as he had said, he was going to get rid of those Ross boys. So, at this point I am lost and at a deadend on this one. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Debra Julie S <julieskc70@yahoo.com> wrote: I do not have a Abel Black in my database..
