Jan, Ancestry.com is where I download my WW I Draft Registration cards. It is a subscription site. Someone else might know if there is a free sight for WW I Draft cards. These cards have proven very helpful in determining if I have the correct person on the census - especially when they are found in a different area from the rest of the family. Good Evening: For the record, Mary (Collins) Haddock, William's wife went to Texas with her son, Nathan and not William Marion Haddock as stated in the below message. She was listed in 1880 in Erath Co., TX in Nathan's household In 1870 Nathan and his family were all still in Barry County and were listed on the census. At that time Mary is living with Nathan and family. And she is also listed in his household in 1880 in Erath Co., TX. Some researchers believe she went on to OK with Nathan's family, but, at this time, we have no proof of that. William Marion Haddock went to Lubbock, TX, and left Barry County soon after 1884 - sometime not long after his wife Sarah Margaret Neal and son, George Haddock, were struck by lighting. Sarah Margaret and George are probably buried in Maddy because that is where Sarah's mother and her sister, Johanna Bowman, are buried and her Shepherd kinsmen. There are two unmarked graves between them that I believe are the graves of Sarah and George. William and Mary (Collins) Haddock are interesting to me, because William was a brother to my gg grandfather, Charles, Jr. and Mary was a sister to Sarah Collins, my gg grandmother. It was a case of brother's who married sisters. In 1852 I noticed that William Collins and wife Juliet took a patent next door to Charles and Sarah (Collins) Haddock and was in Section 10 of Township 25 N, Range 28 West. They also are listed next door on the 1850 census, too. William Collins left a will in 1854. He was first married to Elizabeth Graham, my gr gr gr grandmother and then after she died in sometime around 1847, he second married Juliet Waller. And then after William Collins died in 1854, Juliet married Stanfier Ferguson, and they were buried in Corsicana Cemetery. I wonder if William Collins was buried in Walnut Grove - New Site Cemetery, but he could have been buried in Corsicana near where Juliet and Stanfier are buried. I am not sure where Elizabeth is buried either, but if she died in Barry County then I'd say she was buried in Corsicana. When Charles Haddock's estate was probated in the mid part of the 1860's, it mentioned that his wife, Sarah and a baby, were buried there on the place - now Walnut Grove - New Site - so that land was to be kept for a cemetery. It didn't mention anything about Sarah's father being buried there, too - so he might have been buried in Corsicana. And since Elizabeth, William Collins' wife died in or about 1847, maybe she is also buried in Corsicana. Elizabeth is a very interesting lady to know about too, because she is closely related to the Easley family through her father's sister, Sarah Graham, wife of William Franklin Easley. Well, it looks like when I get started I don't know where to stop, because I was just about to tell you that then the Easley family married into Zachariah Haddock's family and that he was a brother to Charles and William s father. Sarah (Graham) and William Franklin Easley were the grandparents of Edward Easley who lived at Eagle Rock. Edward Easley married a grand daughter of Zachariah and Chloe (Albritton) Haddock, Mary Elizabeth Russell. And so around and around we go with these families. Isn't Barry County genealogy interesting? Today I had several members of the Haddock family write and say that I never post any thing on our family - so I thought I'd see how may of you I could put to sleep tonight with a long winded report on the Haddock clan. And I would say that the long time mystery of where he was buried has probably just been solved. The date of his death suggests that he was killed by bushwhackers but we have no facts to document that. Also buried there may very likely be his son Alexander Haddock's wife, Frances Loveall, who died in 1858. Two daughters Emily and Evaline are unaccounted for, so they possibly are buried there, too. We can safely say that Alexander was living not too far away because he was listed as a bondsman for his father's estate - that of William Haddock in about 1861 to 1866. Also he married second in 1860 to Mary Bikes. William's wife, Polly went to Texas with William Marion Haddock and other relatives so we know that she isn't buried there. I have posted some notes about the sections of land and the probate records on the cemetery page. I am looking for an obit and the cemetery for John J. Laughlin died Apr 9, 1903. I believe that he shot himself. Also think he was known as Red John Laughlin. I found reference to him in the book "Big Sugar Creek Country" also in the Pineville Democrat, the Pineville Herald, and the Cassville Democrat and in the Mayflower News items, but have not been able to find his obit. I have been told that he is buried in Roller Cemetery but have not been able to locate his grave. I am also looking for information on his wife. Elizabeth J (Lydia) Trent. She was the daughter of John H. and Delillah Ann Galloway. Any information on her would be greatly appreciated. Looking for where she is buried and her obit also. I would say that, while this site had interesting things on it as far as a framework, and there was a small level of participation from submitters prior to Donna taking it on, it has really flowered since then. Donna has led by example, at least in my case, and has challenged me to put in extra time here and there to help make this a site to be proud of. I enjoy the hard work you have all put in to this site. It shows what can happen if a few people are dedicated and inspired by someone such as Donna Cooper. Congratulations to Donna, and everyone that has submitted pictures, information or even corrections to MOBARRY and made it such a valuable resource for those of us researching Barry County. jay trace --- Jack Fly <barrycofly@gmail.com> wrote: > Donna, > Thank you for your outstanding effort and hours and > hours of work you've put > in to making our site among the best in the nation. > Jack > > > On 12/8/07, Jerry Johnson <jwjohnson8750@yahoo.com> > wrote: > > > > Donna. Good Morning: Our featured photo for the coming week is one of the J. R. Allen family, submitted by Barry County researcher Alice Allen. Maybe Alice will tell us more about the Allens and their connection to the Hutchens family. I suppose that most of you know they are the same Hutchens family group who had the mill in Pioneer. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/oddsnends/bryfams.htm Our thanks to Alice for all the wonderful old photos she shared with us. Earlier this week she sent us a disc with well over a hundred old photos on it. There were some that weren't named - of unknowns. Those give us a lot of Barry County research material to work on. As we plow through them and compare them to other old photos in books and in libraries we will uncover the secrets of the past and learn about our own heritage. Again, thanks, Alice, for all that you are doing for Barry County. We appreciate it so much! Donna Cooper

List Readers: Thanks to Betty Higgs Lamberson, Audrey Horner and Alice Allen who have helped with all these new photos and items. We have a lot of new photos from the Alice Allen collection tonight. And I have a few more to do that I will work on tomorrow. Of the ones that I loaded today there were some for the school book in the Pioneer and the Wheaton School sections. The Pioneer ones were for 1902 -1906 news paper story. This is great! 1897 First grade class meets - news story, 1938 Home Coming story - 4 pages Pioneer - a guess on this one but the building matches the buiding in the news paper story. One was for Ozark Toughs - guessed that it was Pioneer - but it might not be so if you can help, please let me know. In the Wheaton section there was a team photo - they have "W" on thier shirts - so this was a guess that they were from Wheaton. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/schoolbook/schoolbook2.htm There was one for the J. R. Allen family that went into Photo Book 3 part 1 that Alice also sent. I might as well tell you now that it will be our featured photo for next week. When you see it you will know why. It is a wonderful old photo and I hope that Alice will tell us more about it http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/photos/phs-1.htm Also I posted a lot in the Mystery Photo book so you may want to browse through those and see what is in there. I don't know how many I added but there were several that went to that book. I hope that you find "Grandma" hiding in there somewhere. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/photos/mysteryphotobook.htm Betty Higgs Lamberson noticed a Civil War photo in the Mystery Book last night and identified a Higgs ancestor - James Kelly Higgs. I added the photo she had of him so that you can compare the two. The group photo was one that Bill Landers had sent us a long time ago. There is only one of them now that we don't have identified. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/photos/photo-3/cw.vets.htm Audrey Horner sent us one for Susan Stapleton's family. There are a lot of names connected with this one. So if you have Seligman people you might want to take a look at it. It is a great family photo. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/photos/photo-3/phs3.2.htm Also I added one that I had of a Monett lady that was from A. E. Rumbaugh Photographers in Monett. I don't know who it is or who sent it to me, but it was in a file of old photos that I have on disc that I have been going through the last few days. I thought maybe it would help someone so I posted it. It may be one of my relatives and I have just forgotten who. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/photos/mysteryphotobook.htm Thanks for all the nice words that you have been posting about the Barry site. You folks so generously enrich our web site with nice photos and good things to post. You are the ones who earned this award - and you deserve it for all that you do! My thanks over and over for being such a great group of researchers and for your help in keeping the written record accurate. Donna Cooper
