List Readers: I have two House School photos that came in from Jon Holt. I am glad to see these come in because we didn't have any House School photos on the site - so thanks so much Jon. One is for 1932 and the other one is 1940. I hope some of you can help out with the identity of the students. He knows who some of them were but not all. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/schoolbook/schoolbook.htm Work continues on the posting of Monett Cemetery photos and catch up work on other things. Here is a site for Civil War buffs. Contains photos, virtual tours of various battlefields, etc. http://www.civilwaralbum.com/index.html
Hello, I have not done any of the work on the site but I brag on all you wonderful people that have. I let all know how wonderful this site is and how the people that are on here help people and the other things you all do. Like Jay doing I.O.O.F. cemetery even though most of it isn't in Monett but because I have so many family members there. All that you all do is gift to us and all those that do research in later years and you are really a bunch or wonderful hearted people for all the things you do and I know the site is only apart of it. I thank all of you so very much, Barbara eor@saber.net
Hello Everyone, I think everyone one of us has seen or used the FTM and they are wonderful keeping track of who is who and where they belong. Has anyone every seen 1 completely filled with someones work? It is a work of art! I have only ever saw 1 and couldn't believe how wonderful it is when all is filled in. The pictures, obits, war records, death cert. marriage cert. census, and so much more of all those things you collect and notes about everything. Pictures of them alive then pictures of there gravestones. I had the thought I wanted to do this! Well let me tell you I was beat before I even got started. There is so very much work in that little CD of work so if you ever get one realize you have found a true family researcher. She told me as long as she didn't forget to grab her CD case she always had all of her family research. A computer crash never bothered her research. Look at at all your files and think about scanning and putting all of that in the FTM then think about filling in all those notes and such on the FTM. Yes the FTM can hold it all the more you have it just takes more CDs to download it on to. Just a thought I wanted to share with you all and see if anyone has ever tried doing this? Barbara eor@saber.net
List Readers: I am still trying to get caught up from my holiday vacation. If you wrote to me during that time and I haven't answered yet - hang in there I am making progress. I am doing several of those every day so I should get caught up before long. Tonight we have a little over 50 new photos on the Monett pages. Our thanks to Jay Trace for this very nice piece of work. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/cemetery/monett/monett.htm Also we have photos of Don Warner, Phyllis Long and Gerald Haddock and an interesting note from Linda Garrett about her work as a helper. I think that is all but in case I missed someone you might want to log on and take a look at the page. If you are listed and want to add something about your work or a photo, just drop me a note. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/oddsnends/helpers.htm Have a good evening. Donna Cooper

List Readers: Well, we have almost used up 2007 and with only a few more hours to go, I set here wondering where it all went. Today I used some of it to do a few cemetery additions and revisions. Corsicana, Easley, Clay Hill, Vineyard and Monett IOOF all have new data. At Corsicana, Darla Marbut added a note for a couple of Whittington graves. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/cemetery/corsicana/corsicana.htm Darla also added a Whittington entry to Easley - data collected from death certificates. While there I worked that page over so that it will open more smoothly. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/cemetery/easley/easley.htm Jay Trace added information at Clay Hill for Harris, Gillmore and Rice. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/cemetery/clayhill/clayhill.htm At Vineyard Beverly Matthews and Bill Sanders added notes on Burkett, London Sanders and Edens. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/cemetery/vineyard/vineyard.htm And at Monett - IOOF the posting work as usual continues. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/cemetery/monett/monett.htm Our thanks to Bill Sanders, Jay Trace, Darla Marbut and Beverly Matthews for their help with these new items. I will close this year by saying if I had all the money that Spam declared that I'd won, all the pills that I should take for a better life and all the free things that I'd won then I'd be ending 2007 in perfect health, very rich and basking in the sun on some wonderful island in a far away place. The best that I can tell - I think that I need to stop deleting all that junk mail in the year of 2008. Have a good new year!!!! Donna Cooper
List Readers: Our featured photo for the week is one of one of some school boys at Mars Hill School. Our thanks to Stefanie Forester for sharing this old and unique photo with us. Since we have several people who are now tuned into Mars Hill - I was thinking that one of you might know who these boys are. Or maybe there is one of you who has contact with an older person in that area. If so - maybe you could do a little scouting around and see if you can find out who these boys are. Another question - Could one of these lads be your grandpa? It is a nice photo but we don't have a clue about when it was taken. It could be that the two on the right are related or maybe brothers, because they do sort of look alike. Your help on this one is greatly appreciated. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/oddsnends/bryfams.htm Try and stay warm and have a good Sunday. Donna Cooper
Yes, we do. I sure wish we had a photo of it. You would think that at some time or another a photo would have been taken of it. My grandmother said that one of her favorite things to do was to ride in the wagon with her papa and go to the mill. She called it "mill day". It was just down the road, about a mile from her home, and there were always people there, she remembered. It was a fun time she told me. Thanks Donna. I had some trouble finding that map, but I found it. That location of the word "Mill" would make you think the mill was on the Berryhill land in section 33: http://www.topozone.com/map.asp?lat=36.57903&lon=-93.97426&datum=NAD27&s=24&size=l But we know better. Mike and Readers: The Westmoreland Mill was on the A. S. Westmoreland land. S32, T22, R28. If you look at the 1909 Atlas you will see it marked. It is about a mile from the J. D. Berryhill farm - somewhat south and west of the Berryhill place. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/1909Plat/T22nR28w-b-l.jpg Donna
I'm having trouble placing where that Westmoreland Mill was located. Also I posted about 15 or so new photos on the Washburn page, too. I took these the other day of present day Washburn. Since we have the old photo you can compare and see what little is really left of town. I think that only two of the orginial buildings are left. Most of the new ones I added are listed under a section called Washburn and then there was one under the name of Berryhill that I also posted. It is of the big pine on the old Berryhill place, which is now over 100 years old. There were two of them but has only been one for about 40 years or so now. This is the place where the Berryhill Nursey was located. The Westmoreland Mill was south about a mile from here. I wish we had some photos of it. I don't remember ever seeing a photo of that mill. I wonder if any of you have ever seen one or know of someone who might have a photo of it? http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/Washburn/index.htm Donna Cooper -------Original Message------- From: mobarry@rootsweb.com Date: Friday, December 28, 2007 6:14:41 PM To: mobarry@rootsweb.com Subject: [MOBARRY] New List Readers: I hope you are enjoying the holiday season and had a good Christmas. So hang in there, I am back at my post For you this evening are a few new things that I posted today. Darla Marbut reminded me that Hickam Prairie wasn't called Hickman Prairie. That is one of those things that I know but for some reason always want to type it wrong. So, great thanks, Darla, for helping out on that one. Just so that you know who Jacob Hickam was - he married Elizabeth or Betsy Easley and she was a daughter of William Franklin and Sarah (Graham) Easley. Sarah Graham was related to the Collins family who married into the Haddock family. Also she had a sister named Mary who married John L. Wilson. I am wondering if there is a relationship between him and the John H. Wilson buried in Haddock Cemetery near Purdy. Do we have any Wilson researchers who are on top of these John Wilson families? http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/EagleRock/index.htm Our thanks to Ted Courdin who sent us a mill photo for Corsicana. He didn't mention who is in the photo so maybe some of you will help us out on that part of it. I took the photos a few days ago and collected the postcards at antique and junk shops while I was out running around. List Readers: Our thanks to Damien Aragon for the two nice Northcutt photos that I posted this morning. They were of Benjamin Franklin and Mary Miranda (Rodgers) Northcutt. They are both buried in Corsicana Cemetery as are her parents. This sort of weird - so I am going to tell you this story. One time when I was at Corsicana and looking at stones, I stood in front of the stone for Ben and Mary and wondered what they might have looked like. I don't know why but I pondered with the question for some time, thinking about the Northcutt families that I knew about and wondered how they were all connected. I know now but back in those days I didn't have a clue. Thanks to Northcutt researchers, we can now see what they looked like and also know how they were connected. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/photos/photo-3/northcutt.ben.htm Also our thanks to Diana Cope who sent us a link for the Mars Hill Cemetery, I believe maybe a web page done the cemetery association or someone associated with that. I linked it to our page. It has some nice family photos listed on it. http://marshillcem.com/index.htm Our thanks to Jack Fly who sent us a file on his work and I posted it on the Helper Award page. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/oddsnends/helpers.htm I am taking a Christmas vacation and going out into the world to see if I can find that jolly old fellow, Santa, out there somewhere. I will be leaving tomorrow and will be gone for several days. So - I won't be posting anything during the holidays. If you send something for me to post I will post it when I return. I hope that all of you have a great holiday season and that Santa treats you well this year. Happy Holidays!!!!! Donna Cooper
