    3. At the Monday meeting of the Barry County genealogical & Historical Society, Ted Roller broke out a copy of the Cassville Democrat from 1886. It was in raggedy shape, but plans are underway to have it shipped to the state archives for preservation. It is believed that that is the oldest copy of the Cassville Democrat in existence. jay --- Donna Cooper <saarisr@sbcglobal.net> wrote: > Patricia: The Cassville fire, April 13, 1893, took > out the early Cassville > newspapers. 3. Good Evening: I have a few new photos for you tonight. Our thanks to Ted Courdin, Darla Marbut and Judy Vietri for sharing their nice photos with us. Darla Marbut sent us one of Arthur and Hattie Maloney. It is linked to the Maloney page in the "Focus on Eagle" page and also is in the photo album 3 - part 2. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/EagleRock/index.htm And also here in photo book 3 - part 2. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/photos/photo-3/maloney.arthur.htm Judy Vietri sent us a photo of Malinda (Hunt) Murray and it is photo album 3 - part 2. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/photos/photo-3/murray.malinda.htm Ted Courdin sent us 6 new photos - they were 2 of his grandfather Roy Courdin, 1 of Don Roller and 3 of Frisco trains in the Monett area. Roy Courin's photo with trains - is in Photo Book 3 - part 1. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/photos/photo-3/courdin.roy.htm Don Roller's photo with train is in Photo Book 3 - part 2. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/photos/photo-3/roller.don.htm The three photos of trains are on the photo index page under miscellaneous. I know some of you study the history of the Frisco in Monett and so I thought even though these are not really genealogy photos, that they might be of interest to your historical studies. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/photos/photo-3/trains.htm Keep up the good work and try and stay warm these cold days. 3. Patricia: The Cassville fire, April 13, 1893, took out the early Cassville newspapers. If you look on the index page for newspapers you will see the first year of the Cassville papers is 1890, and there are only 4 papers for that year. I think that those four must have come from a family collection. This photo was submitted a few weeks ago by Tom Courdin and it is of the Corsicana Mill. I believe that they are cutting wood - maybe for the mill? By featuring this one, I am hoping that we can find out more about the photo I wonder if any of you might know who the men are in the photo? The man with beard looks familiar - like we've seen him in another photo. If any of you can help with the date and the identity of these fellows, please let us know.
