    1. [MOBARRY] cemeteries, obits, etc.
    2. Donna Cooper
    3. List Readers: Sometimes it seems fitting to coin an old adage, one that the old timers claimed for their own. "It was a busy day at the mill today". Here below is what the left handed miller ground out for you today. Jack Fly sent us a very interesting photo of Viney Cemetery - snow covered. He took this photo yesterday at Viney of the 4 or 5 inches of white stuff that fell in the county. Pretty with snow on it, isn't it? http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/cemetery/viney/viney.htm At Stubblefield I added Martin Roark's name to the listing since we have his obit claiming that as his burial place. Also I had an interesting message from Gerri Becher who caught a typo on the data that I have posted for Malvina Roark Johnson. She also mentioned that the Kentucky birth records for that early period are now on Ancestory, which names her father as Martin Roark. His death certificate reads that he lived in Clay County but her death record states Adair County. Maybe some of you will know what the division times of counties are there. I didn't check that out, but probably should have. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/cemetery/stubblefield/stubblefield.htm At Brock School Cemetery, Jay Trace added some photos of Galen Cochran and Earl Miller and I have those on the web now. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/cemetery/brockschool/brockschool.htm Jay also sent us a new photo for Potts at Monett IOOF, a recent burial there While there I posted about a dozen or more photos and may try and do some more on that cemetery later today - if all goes well. I also added some cemetery notes that Beverly Matthews shared with us to those pages. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/cemetery/monett/monett.htm At Chitwood Betty Higgs Lamberson notice a transcription error, that I have corrected. I was for Mary Roberts, wife of A. M. Roberts. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/cemetery/chitwood/chitwood.htm Jack Fly added 4 new names to the Henry Hadley Cemetery - they were for Ferguson and Sidney Hadley. These folks don't have stones. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/cemetery/hadley/hadley.h1.htm There was also an addition information - not a name that was added to Leann - but I can't find my note on it so you might want to take a look at that one. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/cemetery/leann/leann.htm New obits are for: Joe Bishop, Rhonda Elizabeth Hilburn, Andrew W. "Wash" Roller, Delia Hanke, John Price Henry, Ellsworth Everley, John Inabnit, W.F. Stewart, Mary Benton Hall, John Fastabend, who was run over by a train, George Baldridge. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/data/obits.htm A big warm thanks to Jay Trace, Beverly Matthews, Jack Fly, Gerri Becher and Betty Lamberson for their help with today's new items.

    3. List Readers: The word for today is obits. Most of the ones I posted were old ones but there there were a couple where I didn't know if the people were living or dead that I abstracted. Here is the list for the new ones that I posted. Ellen Badgett, Oliver Duncan, John Terry, Catherine Loraine Hisey - is the one I posted the other day that was listed for Jack Hisey's daughter. Ernest Mills, Peter Woods, George Houston, Henry Holman, John Burg, Dr. B. B. Kelly, Glen Moseby, Riese Linn Linebarger, John R. Taylor's Baby Olga (Grissom) Bradley, J. F. Ruddick, Susie (Roller) Roller, Sarah J. (Henson) Galloway, Vivian (Counts) Willis, Clinton Smith, S. P. Albright, Walter Jagelski, Dica Bateman, William Tucker, James House, Samatha Ann (Weathers) Morgan, C. T. "Toney" Hickman, Dorothy Ham, Flora Black, James Edward Fielding, William F. Thomas, Mrs. Donnie H. Nickle, Ortha Wisely or Wiley - obit had both names. I am not sure if this is all of them or not, so you might want to cruise through them and take a look for names you are interested in. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/data/obits.htm Donna Cooper

I did the Bowling and Reavis family lines 1st. and I am trying to get 2 documents for each person and if I find some kind person a picture of each person before I put in my FTM and try and do the family line all at one time. I am putting folders and adding to them whan I find something on a person or when someone is kind enough to send me something. 1. [MOBARRY] obits & newspapers
    2. Donna Cooper
    3. Good Afternoon: We have another week of the newspapers on the web site. The week of March 7, 1918, which gives some new obits and the docket for the circuit court, too, was just added. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/news/7/index-7.htm New obits added to the obit section are for: Nancy Jane Barker, Robert Lewis Barr's Baby, Mayme Cantrell, Charles A. Williams, William A. Fly's funeral item was added to his obit, Jack Hisey's daughter, James Riddle, Mrs. Joe Vermillion, Mrs. E.W. Bowman, Homer Pennel's Baby, Andrew Jackson Russell. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/data/obits.htm The 1918 Cassville papers are filled with items about people who had smallpox and about boys who were going away to the service. In the early weeks of 1918 some were shipping out to France but most were still in training camps. The second draft call from Barry County was being made and reports from some of the camps were being sent to the papers. Smallpox appears to have come into the county from Oklahoma and it seems to have first occurred in the Sparkman family of near Washburn. There was an item that stated that they thought it was brought to them by some out of town guest from OK. By March 7th this awful disease had spread around the county and several people seem to have been suffering with it. It appears that most survived somehow or another, but I did see where one member of the Sparkman family died from it. The George Hall family of Exeter had it, too - they were Sparkman relatives. I don't know how many cases the paper reported in the county but several. These early papers are on micorfilm from the State Historical Society in Columbia and are on microfilm. They can be sent to your local libray on an interlibrary loan. You are welcome to save the items to your computer for your own personal use, but you don't have permission to post them on other websites unless I gave you the permisson to do so. Remember that referencing your items when you save them is the mark of a good genealogist. Have a good day and enjoy these old bits of history. Donna Cooper

Andrew Jackson Clevenger was born in Ray County, MO. A lot of her people are buried in Mars Hill Cemetery in Barry County. And we that cemetery done - thanks to Diana Cope. 3. There are two (2) Sarah Amanda Keelings. I looked at the wrong one. You are right in that Sarah Amanda DRAKE married Samuel Wilbur Keeling on June 20, 1903 in Barryville, AR. She passed on October 19, 1966. The Sarah Amanda Keeling I was looking at was married to Richard Winfield POPLIN in Barry Co. I don't have a year for their marriage. This Sarah Amanda was born on April 13, 1864 and died February 22, 1938. I am sorry about the confusion and mixup. I hope this clears everything up. Thank you for calling my attention to the mistake. Her tombstone can be viewed on the Barry County web site Mt Pleasant Cemetery, according to it she was born in 1884 and died 1966. Also since she was born in 1884 and most likely wasn't a Keeling until she married Sam, she isn't the Sarah Keeling listed in the 1870 census. According to the 1930 census Sam and Sarah married about 1902 she was born in Arkansas and he in Tennessee. Both his parents wereborn in Tennessee, Her mother was born in Texas, her father in Arkansas. Ruth

I just checked all of the other sites on Heritage Quest and NO RESULTS!!! There are NO records that I could find on the CIVIL WAR or that era. 1. [MOBARRY] Ordering Civil War Pension Records
    2. Susan Faulkner
    3. This morning I sat down to write step-by-step instructions on how to order Civil War Pension Records and realized that there are articles online that have already done a really good job of this. Here are a couple. Ordering Civil War Pension Records - Union & Confederate at http://www.genealogybranches.com/civilwar Pennsylvania Volunteers of the Civil War at http://www.pacivilwar.com/nara.html A couple of personal points I would like to add up front are: 1. The cost for a Complete Civil War Pension File copy is now $75.00 for 100 pages of the file. I can not find any information stating what happens if the file is over 100 pages, but I did find a reference stating that the average file is 106 pages long. I wonder what happens to those last 6 pages??? :-) Another reference stated that the $75.00 covers the cost for a copy of the entire file. 2 There are two types of copies available - the Complete File and the Compiled File (or Pension Packet). It is more expensive, but definitely well worth the money to request the Complete File. In the Compiled File you get just some of the papers - those deemed important by the people copying the file. In the last Civil War Pension File I received, I was delighted to find out that my fourth great grandfather was 5'4" tall. I don't know if the affidavit containing this information would have been copied in the abbreviated copy request. It is really not difficult to order a Civil War Pension File, but you do need to have information on hand before generating your request. The articles listed above explain what information is needed. I'm personally thrilled with the new online ordering system the National Archives has on their website. They do walk you through the entire ordering system. I hope this helps. ~Susan
