He died 24 August, 1966, no place of death given. Parents of James Walter Sutton were as follows: James Walter Sutton was his father. Tryphonia Ann Leach was his mother. 3. Thanks to you and Linda Garrett both for the book and index. I enjoyed seeing it. Wonder if most high schools in the late 1920s era were built from the same plan. Auditorium looked just like my high school auditorium here in Dallas, TX. 2. Ray Quattlebaum
    3. The Hinchey photographic studio was in Aurora for years. Look for the Hisey name in Monett. They lived in Cassville and then moved to Monett, I think. He was a photographer. There were three children in the family - Pauline, who married Clarence Stiles, Paul, and Margaret. There should be marriage and birth records in Barry County.

    3. Good Afternoon: I found out yesterday that my doctor has to be out of town the end of February and so my surgery date was moved to March 3rd. I have been trying not to use the mouse so much and to use my left hand as much as possible. I have the most trouble with posting photos left handed so I've been backing off from cemetery postings until I can get this over with. It really bugs me because I wanted to get Monett on the web. It is such a nice addition and so many of you will benefit from it, so it is too bad that I can't just pop it into being. Anyway in time it will all be on the net. Thanks to all who worked on the Hinchey and Hisey Photographers information. Betty Lamberson has a nice photo that they took on the Wheaton page and Linda McCormick has nice one on the Cassville page. Both of those just have Hinchey on them Today I have several things that I've posted in the last two or three days. Below are the listings. Obits - James Henry Thomas, M. W. McCollum, Mrs. Milligan Cox, Ernest S. Ray, Charles Talbert, Gilbert Clemen Plancheon, John Stark, Emanuel G. Broshears, Infant of Elmer Sanders. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/data/obits.htm Newspaper items for some of March and April of 1918. Those are in Newspaper Book 7. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/news/news.htm Washburn - 3 school plays in School Book 2. Our thanks to Frances Albert for these nice pieces of historical information. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/schoolbook/schoolbook2.htm Also she submitted an item about the Edmonds Quartette, which in the Church Book. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/photos/church/churchphotobook.htm Donna Cooper

(In those days, even the > doctors did house I have been watching this conversation about the early photographers. I can say from personal knowledge, that the "traveling photographer" was indeed common in the early part of the century. In the 1920's at least, and perhaps before, my grandfather, R. O. Harris traveled to many schools around southwest Missouri and took class pictures, and also took wedding pictures. His only studio as far as I can recall,(I lived with or near him when I was about 3-6 years old)was in his house. I can well remember the smell of the developing fluid, and seeing prints hanging all over the house to dry. I think he took a picture of me every hour, since I have stacks of prints with his signature, or me and his daughter(my mother)and other family members. His home(and mine at the time)was in Mt. Vernon. He sometimes took me with him to take the school pictures, though that is a very dim memory for me, since it was at least 75 years ago. 3. Thanks, Betty. I saw an item in the Cassville Republican where a child of Jack Hisey's died - March 1918. He was also listed as J. W. Hisey in that same paper. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobarry/data/obits/h/hisey.jack.htm I wonder if Hinchey & Hisey had a family connection. It appears that Hisey was from Monett from all that we've found and perhaps Hinchey from Aurora, maybe, wouldn't you think? If they added to our history here in Barry, which apparently they did, it would be neat if we could find out more about their studios and put together a page that documents some of their work. 3. My late Mother, Marguerite Hoyt, a lifetime resident of Wheaton, said that Wheaton had two hotels in the early days, one on east Main and one on the west end of Main. It was a common practice for traveling photographers to set iup in one or the other Hotel. I spent quite a lot of time today reading The Wheaton Journal for 1919 and saw no ad for any photographer traveling or otherwise. The newspapers for year 1918 is not available. I did however, send Donna a postcard photo of a R.E. Hinchey photo made of the Chenoweth and Frazier Drygoods store in 1918 in Wheaton. Betty

Now here comes David Crosby and Joy Fisher with a way to quickly and easily generate maps for our sites. Many thanks to Joy for this months tutorial.(editor) Creating County Maps with Google Maps API By Joy Fisher: I created my first Google map from scratch: http://www.sdgenweb.com/union/cemeterymap/countymap.html I started out by going to the Geonames Server and collecting a list of all the cemeteries in their database for Union Co., SD. I carefully converted all the latitude and longitude from degrees, minutes and seconds to decimal degrees. I created a template for adding a map marker for each cemetery, including a link to my cemetery file for that cemetery. Lastly I created a boundary file with the latitude and longitude of all the points that make up the county boundary. The boundary file was generated . Many CC s solve the problem early on by posting a statement to the effect that they do not do any research for other individual researchers/family historians. Few of us have a personal library filled with material for the counties we host. We often have less research material than the average researcher .
