List Readers, your surprise for today is the 1949 yearbook for Washburn School. This yearbook was submitted by Phyllis Long. The book belongs to Vern Dalton and is on loan to Phyllis by his son Danny who is the present day school board president. This 1949 first grade class is celebrating their 50th school reunion this year and we are looking for old time school photos so if any of you have some that are for this class, we like to hear from you. We really could use a first grade photo of 1949 Seligman first grade class. We do have one for Trent Creek for that year, but need some of the other rural schools that were in the R-V District, too. Please help us out if you can. And, gee whiz, guess who was in the first grade that year. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/School-Book/Yearbooks/1949-Washburn/index.htm cc: Dale Donna Cooper
I am working on Oak Ridge Cemetery am looking for any information on George Seymour. All that is there is an old mortuary marker that has "George Seymour" scratched on it. Looks as if it has been there for a long time. Not much to go on, I know, but does anyone know anything about this George? Phyllis in MO

List Readers, Our featured photo for the coming week was submitted by Bill Sanders and is a photo of the 1946 Butterfield Graduating Class. I wonder how many of them were living when they had their 50th reunion and if they had one. Anyone know? http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/oddsnends/bryfams.htm Thanks, Bill, for sharing with us. Donna Cooper
List Readedrs, thanks to Norman and Vickie Smith we can now say - another one done!!! http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/cemetery/creason/creason.htm I had trouble reading some of the stones on my lap top because it doesn't have as good of monitor as my pc at home so if you see a mistake please let me know. Norman and Vickie thanks so much!!! Donna Cooper
Yes, I think so. The stone reads that he was age 47 so that is somewhat close. By the way - the notice you quoted is given in the Cassville Democrat, Aug. 4, 1917 so that notice would be for the same Henry who is buried in Creason. I believe there is an obit/news item for Henry Metcalf in the Creason Cemetery already on the website--you night want to "connect" them and maybe that will help someone ID him! I was unable to locate a death certificate, so I have not found his Metcalf connection for sure but think he MIGHT be Henry Wilson Metcalf, born July 2, 1872 in Estill Co, KY to Hiram Casteel Metcalf & his wife Mary Ann Gabbard. (they are my great-great grandparents and I only have known that he died before 1920. If this is the right Henry, he married Cynthia Jane Porter (b. 9/15/1874 in Monett - died 10/22/1959 in Enid, Garfield Co., OK. She is buried in Maplewood Cemetery, Barry Co.) They did have 6 children (which matches the info in this death notice: Claud Mack, 1894; married Ethel Coffey John E., 1896; married Gladys Conley Paulina F., ca 1899; married E.W. Young Edward B., ca 1902 Delia F., ca 1905; married Henry Coffey Lucille "Lucy", b. 4/11/1909--married Leo Hutchens Here's a copy of the death notice posted on the website--what does anyone else think? *Henry Metcalf Dead* *Well Known Citizen Dies of Typhoid fever at Home Near Ridgley, Sunday* *Henry Metcalf, aged about 48 years, died at his home near Ridgley, Sunday, of typhoid fever. * *Mr. Metcalf was an excellent husband, father and citizen and was held in high esteem by all who knew him. He leaves a wife and six children to mourn his death. He was a consistent member of the Free Will Baptist Church.* *The remains were interred in the Creason Cemetery, after appropriate services. he carried $1,500 insurance for the benefit of his family.* * * On Sat, Mar 13, 2010 at 2:00 AM, <[email protected]> wrote: > > > The list-admin is Donna Cooper, address - ([email protected]) > > > Today's Topics: > > 1. List Readers, A few days ago Norman and Vickie Smith photographed all of the stones in Creason Cemetery and sent all 97 of them by e-mail to me. So here in California, while visiting my daughter, I started plugging away at the list. Last night I worked on them in between other things and to my surprise I have a little over half of them on the web already. If you have notes to go with any of these please post them in the temporary folder so that we can add them to the already existing data. I will work on this project in my spare time and try and get it on the web for you before I leave here. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/cemetery/creason/creason-1.htm Donna Cooper

Here is a Census for Flat Creek Township, Barry Co., Mo for Levi Hefley. There is a Louise there and sometimes Louise is "Lou". She was listed as a widow. Census can be off a year or so but they do get within a reasonable area. Also, I've heard that girls sometimes married very young in early times.
