Hi there, Rootsweb.com has an entry for William Harley Crouch, same DOB, same DOD, only his place of birth is listed as Il instead of IA. It does have him dying in Cassville, though. Unfortunately, the two entries for him are not openable. List Readers, I am still working on Oak Ridge photos from Ted Roller's photo work that he did late last fall. I almost have two of the three folders done now. Many of these new entries for Oak Ridge have notes that were added by Phyllis Long and a lot have death certificate notes, too, as well as obits that Phyllis added. I added some notes from Culver's Funeral Home records from Ted Roller's work. Darla Marbut added some notes on the Garrett family from her family files. If, below, it reads - note - then those are probably notes from Phyllis' file that she shared with us. There could be some also that have her notes that aren't listed here below so you might want to surf the files and see what has been added. Enos F. Williams, note, Ivan D. Foster, Merle Bishop, WW I, Hazel Sanders, note Fred Sanders, note, Cecil Margaret Osburn, note, Culver's, C. W. "Cap" Osburn, note, Linus Williams, note, Susie (Foster) (Williams) Joiner, DC, Culver's, J. T. Denton, Mabel Irene Zilliox, note, Joe Newman Bishop, Navy, Margaret Jane Horrall, note, Elizabeth N. (Kirk) Cope, note, Opal M. (Hall) Orr, note, Culver's, Wilson Orr, Culver's, Charley Orr, note, Nancy Lisa Orr, DC, Culver's, Wilson Junior Orr, Dave Hall, DC, Note, Retha Clementine "Tina" (Doty) Hall, Edna Alberta (Ash) Hall, John Hall, note, William Burl Hall, Monett Times No Photos for these - Donald Floyd Garrett, Darla's Note, Erma (Pruitt) Garrett, Darla's Note, Lewis Garrett, Goldie May (Maloney) Lester Phyllis' Note - William Harvey Couch, DC & Newspaper item added. This is the puzzle I asked about this morning. I found the answer in the newspaper files. The Missouri Archives site has it indexed as Carnet. Thanks to all who helped with these new entries - Darla Marbut, Phyllis Long and Ted Roller. This is all very nice work, People! Often I get mail from folks who say - I love reading the Barry County cemetery notes and files and sometimes people tell me that they have spent hours going through and reading newspaper and cemetery files on the web site. They always have very nice things to say about the work of our volunteers. Well, that is no surprise to most of us, but believe it or not, there are some people who probably have never looked at our cemetery records. You know that is true when you look at some of the trees that are on line. With records like these, that I just posted, sloppy genealogy is certain to be short lived. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/cemetery/oakridge/oakridge.htm Donna Cooper
Thank goodness for our newspapers. This is the note I just posted on the Oak Ridge Cemetery page. Research Note: This one is incorrectly indexed as William Harvey Cranet on the Secretary of States Missouri Archives web site. W. S. Hankins of Cassville, MO, was the informant. February 13, 1913, Thursday, Cassville Republican - Online Newspapers: Oak Ridge News: Died at his home a mile northwest of Oak Ridge school house at 4 o'clock Saturday evening, Rev. W. H. Crouch of heart disease, age nearly 62 years. He came here form Oklahoma about 2 years ago and bought a part of the Mills place east of Spout Spring. He had been a minister for several years but owing to his disease he had of late years not preached so much. He lost his house and all its contents about the 20th of November 1912 and his worrying is thought to have aggravated the disease and shortened his life. He leaves a wife and six children to the bereaved we extend our sympathy. - And also - Suburban News: Mr. Crouch died Saturday at four o'clock with heart trouble. We extend our sympathy to the bereaved ones. Additional Note: He married Florence Arletta Dickson in 1894, possibly in Nebraska. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/cemetery/oakridge/or-1.htm Donna Cooper
If you look at the doctor's signature you will see a letter much like the one that starts Harley's last name. Just a follow-up to Donna's email of last week. If any of you have current contact information regarding any descendants of the families buried at Clark please let me know. I have a few names that have continued to contribute to that account in recent years and plan to do a mailing this next week. Any help will be appreciated. Bobbie
List Readers, yesterday was another busy day with a lot of maintenance chores that had to be done. Some address were updated and a lot of mail answered. I do still have some unanswered mail but will get to it soon. The new queries that were posted in the temporary folder were added to the pages. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/queries/qryindex.htm On the Maplewood pages - Joycie (Wilson) Lacey's an abstract of obit was added to her data. I wish we had a photo of her since she taught school in Barry County her entire life, And the Lawrence family had some updates that were added, too. Willis Lawrence - death certificate information, Clarisa's maiden name of Neldon was added, Martin Vernon Lawrence's death certificate information was added. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/cemetery/maplewood/l-1.htm At Washburn Prairie - Frances Cleva (Boles) Lawrence was updated. Her parents were Thomas Boles and Jane Laughlin. I think that Jane was Laura Jane Laughlin but who were her parents? http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/cemetery/washburnprairie/k-l.htm At Oak Ridge new photos were added from Ted Roller's photo work. I still have some notes from Phyllis Long to add on some of these that I will try and do today. I have added 220 photos from Ted's photo work. I had a long list from a couple of days ago that I didn't get typed so you might want to surf through these if you are interested in the families who are buried in Oak Ridge. List Readers: Do any of you know who the father of Samuel Morgan was and possibly who some of his siblings were? He married in McMinn Co., TN, to Margaret VanZandt Dec. 20, 1829. I am told that he was born in Greene Co., TN, on July 17, 1810. His name was probably Samuel C. Morgan - but some Barry County researchers have him as Samuel Joshua Morgan. I have a feeling that is not correct. Anyone know? I would like to clear up the confusion on this if any of you can help it would be appreciated. 1830 United States Federal Census > Tennessee > McMinn > Not Stated Name: Morgan, Saml Township: Not Stated County: McMinn - State: Tennessee Year: 1830 Roll: 178 Page: 188 Saml Morgan 20-30 male: 1 20-30 female: 1 1840 United States Federal Census Samuel Morgan Township: Not Stated - County: Pulaski State: Missouri - Roll: 229 - Page: 216 1850 Barry Co., MO, October 11, 1850, page 225 House # 478: Morgan, Samuel 39, M, TN, Farmer Margaret 40, F, TN Vesta 17, F, TN Ishna, 14, M, TN ( Joshua) Zacri T., 2, M, TN (Zachary) Morgan Cemetery, Barry Co., MO Josephine B.
