    3. Gee Whiz - I forgot to also tell you that Gary Ball worked on the house photo that was in the newspaper story and I posted on the page that Linda Garrett typed up for us. There were two or three words that needed to be changed on the story. Gary says, and I know that he is correct, that the article reads that the coffee was Arbuckle Coffee. I remember hearing about that brand of coffee. It must have been really good.   http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/data/news/schell-BigSugarCreek.htm Hope you enjoy this one. Thanks, Gary, for all you do.  Donna   ----- Original Message ---- > From: Donna Cooper <[email protected]> > To: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> > Sent: Tue, May 18, 2010 9:49:57 AM > Subject: [MOBARRY] New > > Good Morning, I added the Pea Ridge news story about Henry Schell to the Shell > Knob page and also a couple of grave stone photos that Phyllis Long sent, > too. 3. Wonderful article - thanks so much for transcribing this!!! I did see one type about 3/4 of the way down, it read the family first settled in "1945" and it should say "1845." I am so glad you decided to include this. A lot of my family lived in Mountain, Cyclone and the Pea Ridge areas so it was wonderful to read about what their towns and way of life were like. Two questions: 1) Are back copies of the Pea Ridge Graphic available online anywhere? 2) Does anyone have the second half of this story? Best regards, Janel Foss Mercer Island, WA ________________________________ From: Donna Cooper <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Mon, May 17, 2010 3:29:48 PM Subject: Re: [MOBARRY] Schell Family Linda Garrett typed it up for us - http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/data/news/schell-BigSugarCreek.htm She said it was difficult to see some of the words so if you see something wrong just let us know and we'll fix it. 3. List Readers, for Oak Ridge Cemetery we have these new photos and other research data. These are the photos from Ted Roller's work on this cemetery. Some have census notes that Phyllis Long submitted and other notes. Also some have Culver's Funeral Home notes from Ted Roller's work. Photos from Ted Roller's work - Doyle B. Hall, Wanda L. Hall, Lucile Hall, Norman Franklin Hall, George Earl Hall, Dortha E. (Hilton) Hall, notes, Earl F. Hall, notes, Delores Jane Hall, notes, Margaret Ann Hall, homemade stone, need her parents names, Christine Marie Michael, Harry Kerr, Riley Brown, Edith (McGlasson) Brown, Gilbert Brown, J. O. Clayton, Larry Edward Hall, dc added, L. H. no name on this home made stone - might be Larry Edward Hall's stone? Unknown, sandstone with no markings - next to L. H., Loren L. Lowe, Fern E. Lowe, Aaron Harvey Lowe, Jerry Gene Elliott, Mary Lois Elliott, nee Lowe, Culver's Funeral Home, Tucker Infant, son of E. O. Tucker. and George Seymour, George Seymour has a metal temporary marker with some pencil writing on it that reads George Seymour. His death certificate is listed as George Seamore and he died in 1942. He was born in Pennsylvania and had only been in the community for 5 years. It looks like this one will soon be just another forgotten - unmarked grave. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/cemetery/oakridge/oakridge.htm Thanks Ted and Phyllis. 1. [MOBARRY] Schools
    2. Donna Cooper
    3. List Readers, sometimes school photos don't have school names or dates on them. Many times they don't have any markings at all and so we had a Sunnyside photo marked Cormus Grove. I have changed it to Sunnyside and put it in that section. Ramona Fletcher sent us some details about the school and the 1909 location of the school and so I have posted that in the map location and also one of the school photo page that Molly McKay submitted. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/School-Book/s-index.htm On the Seligman page there were several new photos added including one for 1948-49 for the 3rd and 4th grades.  And also a 1st and 2nd grade photo for Seligman 1948-49. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/School-Book/s-index.htm For Southwest High several new photos were added. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/School-Book/s-index.htm These new items were added by the Class of 1960 Southwest Reunion Committee. When you stop and think about it there must be a semi-truck load of old school photos tucked away in houses that we are yet to find. Most are probably stored away in boxes and forgotten about. If you have time see if you can't help us find some more of these precious old relics for our web pages.  Just think of the history in those two Sunnyside photos. This type of school history is very important but I always think of the thrill that one gets when a grandparent is found in an old school photo. It can't be matched with any other kind of thrill! Here is what I mean - About four years ago Shirley Rowley McCollough sent a school photo to the web site that had my grandmother pictured in it. It was for the 1920 graduating class of Washburn.  I will never forget the warm feeling that had when I opened it and saw who was in the photo besides her mother's paternal uncle that she had mentioned in her note.   Donna Cooper

    3. List Readers, I have a lot of new school photos for you today. 1955 - Cormus Grove, 1955 - Trent Creek, 1955 - Seven Star, 1955 - Maple Grove, 1955 - OK 1955 - Pleasant View 1947-1948 Buzzard Glory - I posted it as Mt. Pleasant as it is often called - but it is really called Pleasant View. So I put a note on the page and set up a new folder for Pleasant View. I hope this will lessen the confustion on that one.  These schools consolidated with Washburn and Seligman in 1954. They continued to use these one and two room school buildings for awhile but the high school students were bused to Washburn.   I understand from someone who went to school at O. K. that it was a two room building. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/School-Book/index.htm Thanks goes to the Southwest RV 1960 Reunion committee group for these photos. Donna Cooper

    3. Good morning: Our featured photo is another school photo. Ramona Williams Fletcher shared this great photo with us. Last week's featured photo was a Seligman graduatin class - maybe 8th graders - that Ramona also submitted. She said that when she opened an old yearbook she found both photos tucked inside. She has no idea who is pictured in the other one but in this one she knows which boy is her uncle.   Here is what she had to say, "The only one I know in this photo is the young man in the middle of the back row. It is my uncle, Genoa Williams." http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/oddsnends/bryfams.htm Ramona, thanks for sharing with us. Maybe someone will know who these kids are. Donna Cooper

    3. Donna, I am trying to find a photo of the stone and plaque that were part of the celebration recognizing the beginnings of shell knob. Do you have any suggestions? Do you know of any such photo? I am wondering if any of your readers might have a photo that they would be willing to share. Thank you for any and all suggestions.
