    3. Nora, I am sure there is a logical explanation for this. BUT, I have not idea what it is so I am sending your message to the list readers for them to ponder. 3. There are some birth/death certificates available for MO prior to 1910 at the below website: http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/resources/birthdeath/default.asp#birth I've tried to find some early ones for Barry County but had no luck. Sometimes an infant that died at birth was never even registered. Glad to hear it wasn't malnutrition. It was common then, in fact was a primary reason for beginning a food supplement and nutrition education program for pregnant and nursing mothers and young children. Of course, there were many other causes of death: lack of oxygen, cord wrapped around the neck, mucous in the breathing passages and so on. _________________________________________________________________ Hotmail is redefining busy with tools for the New Busy. 3. Thanks Ms Childress. My Grandmother was a nurse, not sure if practical or registered but she worked as such until her death, in her fifties. I suspect she understood the medical aspect of pregnancy and doubt her nutrition was faulty. Did they have birth/death certificates during 1900? This query is certainly less than critical, but I love all that I can learn of my heritage. Btw, my mother lived to be 101. Thanks again. Jim

    3. List Readers - Part 1 of 2 pages - First I must tell you that the Samuel Babb page that we have on line is on the Google Alerts list for today. I don't know if you are a member of the Google alerts list or not, but I have given them my address and so when something new is posted on Barry County they send me an alert. It is a shame though that they don't run the robot very deep into the pages - and usually don't get most of what we post since it is not on our opening page. But - anyway this page that Vicki Nusz did for us came in today as a page to view if you are interested in Barry County. Pretty darn neat, don't you think?  http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/data/babbSamuel.htm Roller at Garfield is in its infancy - we now have the beginning of what will be a archive of 432 or so photos that Wilma Fields took in the fall. And in addition there are a few yard shots that I took June of 2009 when I was there.   Back in the 1970's a lady and I did a hand transcription of this cemetery for the Northwest Arkansas Genealogy Society. Not sure of the year - but might have been 1974. I think she was Avery Weiser, now deceased, who helped me do it. I remember we took a lunch and were there all day. We worked like Trojans to get done but had to go back and finish it another day. Maybe two more - can' say for sure, but anyway it took us a few days to do it. I am sure that we made mistakes because that is the nature of hand transcriptions. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/cemetery/roller-ar/roller-ar.htm The following list were done by Darla Marbut and Phyllis Long - from death certificates and from obits. Some are notes to existing names but a few are new additions. These gals know how to do research - we are so lucky to have them on our team and batting away at our cemetery project.   McKinney Cemetery Tony Carr Gibson - Phyllis Long added http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/cemetery/mckinney/mck.htm Pilant Cemetery - Phyllis Long added - Alfred Medlin, Emma Alice (Mercer) Clayton. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/cemetery/pilant/pilant.htm Painter Cemetery - Phyllis Long added - Miriam Pray, Martha (Wilson) Brock, William Lafontaine, Audra Painter, Susan Louisa (Putnam) Horrall, I added from Culver's from Ted Roller's work - Mary Rebecca (Ledgerwood) Alexander - this work makes three different birth dates we have for her now. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/cemetery/painter/painter.htm Corinth Cemetery - William H. Lawrence - added by Darla Marbut - we have two different dates for his birthdate, The rest was added by Phyllis Long Ellen Murial Kidwell, Lucy Ann (Booth) Meador, we have two different sources for her maiden name - and we have Tuggle and Burnett - I thought she was a Burnett but now am not sure. William Benjamin Harrison Thompson, Nancy (Slane) Dotson, Thelma Gibson, Stanley Edens, M. Tea (Phillips) Lawrence - we have two different dats for her birthdate, Jacob A. Baker http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/cemetery/corinth/corinth.htm Page 2 to follow in a few minutes. Donna cooper

    3. Without a death certificate, it would be difficult to tell the cause of the baby's death. However, a frequent cause of death of infants was prematurity, birth defect, and malnutrition of the mother. _________________________________________________________________ Hotmail is redefining busy with tools for the New Busy. 3. Good Afternoon, I am not a Boles family member so I may be out in the cold on this one. But I thought I'd pass my notes on.  I have that Sampson Boles was born about 1822 and died 1865 at Schell's Mills, McDonald Co., MO, and that his wife was named Susan Dodson, born 1822 in Grainger Co., TN, and I have that she died in 1900 in Lincoln Co., MO. I would suppose that a Boles descendant passed that on to me since I have not researched the Boles family.  For Thomas Anthony Boles - I have these notes -   1880 United States Federal Census about Thomas A. 1. [MOBARRY] Featured Photo
    2. Donna Cooper
    3. Good Evening: Since a lot of you have tomorrow planned with all sorts of activities to celebrate Independence Day - the 4th - I thought I'd send you the featured photo link tonight. It is a photo of the Friday family. Yes, yes, yes, they have a Joe Friday. Only those of you who remember the TV series of the 50's would know who Joe Friday is - maybe I should say was. For the rest of you he played on a show called "Dragnet". Frank Hatton submitted this photo of the Friday family. And here below is what Frank has to say about the photo. Persons in the picture: Barney Friday, unknown neighbor girl, Raymonde Friday, mother of the boy, Raymond M. Friday. Picture was taken in the early 1950's in Virginia. Bernard 'Barney' Friday, born 1874, died 1952, in Virginia - married to Rose Ancevitz, born 1879, died Dec. 13, 1950, Capps Creek Twp., Barry County, Missouri. One of their children was: Raymond Joseph 'Joe' Friday, born May 7, 1914, died 1979 in France. (have pictures of his grave site) He was married to Romonde J. 'Unknown'. Their son is Raymond M. Friday, living in Idaho, and the source of the picture. He is married to Regine E. 'Unknown'. They have 2 sons.   http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/oddsnends/bryfams.htm   I hope you noticed the little soldier who is pictured on the right. This is really cute!   Very neat photo!    Thanks, Frank, we will enjoy this one for a long time.   Donna Cooper
