    3. List Readers, we have a lot of goodies this evening! Vicky Jenkins sent us some Oak Ridge photos for her dad, Dutch Beeson. I don't have the line up on them yet but hope she will send that information along soon. Included in her submissions were these: 2 with no date, 1939-40, 2 for 1941-42, 2 for 1947, and 1948-49. I didn't know that Kirtsey Still taught school at Oak Ridge, but he is pictured in one of the photos. You will probably remember we had him in an earlier date in a Peoples School photo. I know, too, that he taught at Washburn 7th and 8th grade in the late 1940's or early 1950's. He retired a teacher and is buried in Kings Cemetery. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/School-Book/o-index.htm And on the mills page - Vicky Jenkins sent us a photo of the Bowers - Marbut mill that was in the newspaper many moons ago. We have a real photo on that same page just like the one that was in the paper that Jennifer LeVaugh submitted that belonged to her grandmother. Vicky may have some Bowers information to share - census and information like that on the Bowers family. So if anyone is interested you might send her a note. Jennifer LeVaugh says that she hasn't proved that Robert Walters was a brother of William - in the photo that we had a few days ago, but she is working on it. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/mills/oldmills1.htm On the Whittington Cemetery - Phyllis Long submitted birth and death dates -  Grant Cooper from his death certificate. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/cemetery/whittington/whittington.htm Williams Cemetery - Phyllis Long submitted - Mary Dick, one we didn't have her listed - died in 1916. This information came from her death certificate. I bet there are a lot more unmarked graves there that we may find the "owners" for as time passes. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/cemetery/williams/will.htm Purdy Cemetery - from Phyllis Long - from obits and death certificates - Isabelle Alvarez, George Henderson Berziel - name is sometimes found Braziel and Breazeal or Brazeale, etc. I believe he was born in Roane Co., TN. Grace Elefare (Crane) Cameron. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/cemetery/purdy/purdy.htm When I look at all the good things that come in and that are posted on a daily bases, it sure makes me wonder how anyone could do Barry County genealogy without good old MoBarry.    Thanks goes to Phyllis Long for her help with today's new items. And thanks goes to Vicky Jenkins for all these nice photos that she added! Please tell your dad thanks for us, too, Vicky. Donna Cooper

    3. List Readers, Today I have several new cemetery listings for you. I will be working on the back log that I have stacked up a few more days and then will go back to posting Roller at Garfield. Barbara Erwin corrected a place of death with an obit for Maple Godard Scott. He is buried in Washburn Prairie. The researcher had posted that she died in Benton, AR, which is in Saline County, I think. Actually this person died in Benton Co., AR, so we now have it correct on our pages. Thanks, Barbara!!! I want our files to be correct so this was a good one to get! I have the obit that Barbara sent and I will post it soon. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/cemetery/washburnprairie/wp.htm Phyllis Long posted these obits and death certificate notes for Washburn Prairie - Wanda Pauline (Burnette) Roller, a daughter of Amos Andrew and Martha Florence (Weathers) Burnette. Karen (Black) Lyles, Lottie Burke, an infant - new person added to the cemetery per death certificate, her mother was named Lottie Burke - nee Weston and is buried there, too. Alpheus Lamar, Alexander McGhee James, he went by "Doc" and married Mary Jane Wright. Wendall Glenn Hall, Jr. - son of Alfred Hall and Pansy Mae Forgey. Pansy has connections to Roller at Garfield that we are working on. Alfred was born in McDonald County. His father was John Hall and his mother was Martha Belle Ferguson according to Culver Funeral Home records. I can't remember who John's father was. Anyone know? I am having a senior moment - seems like Missouri  Ann Woodard was Wendell's great grandmother - can't remember. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/cemetery/washburnprairie/wp.htm Clay Hill Cemetery - Phyllis Long added from obits and dc - Oda Odeline Tunnell, Hattie Jane (Allmon) Robbins, Sarah Adeline (Stewart) Rickman, Delitha Berry, Ethel (Rickman) Hilton, Samuel Saul Siddall, Elmira Myra (Hilton) Shoemaker, Andrew Baker Baldwin. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/cemetery/clayhill/clayhill.htm Jim Wilson added notes to these for Clay Hill - Mary Elizabeth (Springer) Robbins, Susan D. Sumners. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/cemetery/clayhill/clayhill.htm  Mt. Olive  is the cemetery for Pioneer - Barry County Cemetery - and is barely across the line in Newton. I wish we had it on our the web site. These names were added by Phyllis Long - Miranda B. (Roe) Harrison, Malinda (Ennis?) Lee,  Andrew W. Roe, Henry Newton Ray. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/cemetery/mtolive/mtolive.htm Thanks to our helpers Barbara Erwin, Jim Wilson and Phyllis Long for our new items today. Try and stay cool! Donna Cooper

    3. Donna, There is a photo of the sign and it reads True Love Cemetery. I always hear there was a family "Truelove" and it was named for them, but I don't know where or how I came by that information. 3. I think the medal Walter Walters is proudly wearing on his chest is a Grand Army of the Republic medal. Matthew McIntosh is also displaying one in this photo. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/photos/photoalbum2/mcintosh.fam.htm I enlarged the one on Matthews chest and it shows some detail. 3. This is a nice photo. I think you are right about the discoloring. I don't think it is snow on the ground. It also looks like the lady in the chair is pregnant. Is there another child that came along after this? What a great old photo - and it was submitted by Jennifer LeVaugh. Also Jennifer would like to correspond with anyone working on the Timothy Bowers and also the Robert Walters families. Since our featured photo is of the Timothy Arthur Bowers family, you will probably remember that Timothy owned the mill at Travers. I have always had trouble with the Travers location, but know that it was in McDowell Twp., and his mill was later called Marbut Mill. Look at our mill page for a photo of it and of the Marbut Mill - they match. Here are a couple of important news items about the family - Mrs. Tim Bowers Dead: Mrs. Timothy Bowers of Travers, died Wednesday at Travers of a continued sickness since November, leaving her husband and children to mourn her passing. She was a very energetic woman and will be sadly missed by her family and neighbors. And in the same paper was this item - Locals and Personal: Timothy Bowers has traded his mill at Travers, to Lawrence Nickle for his farm east of Butterfield. February 3, 1917, Saturday, Cassville Democrat Since Timothy traded it to Lawrence Nickle - it must have been Nickle then that disposed of it to the Marbut family - I don't have any details on that. Our featured photo is very interesting - looks like that there is snow on the ground with oak leaves still hanging but I don't think that is the case because this photo would have been taken before Mrs. Bowers died in 1917 so it isn't color. On the right at the bottom, the dog looks like a baby bear to me. But I am sure it is probably a dog. I have never seen an old photo with this sort of coloration - really neat. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/oddsnends/bryfams.htm Thanks Jenn for this great addition to our website. 3. If the Decocq family Reunion picture was made in 1930? Rebecca Decocq named on the first row was not born until July 1939, she is my cousin on the Brattin side. Her Mother and Dad are both in the picture. As is my step Father Lawrence Decocq. Betty Lamberson ----- Original Message ----- From: "Donna Cooper" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, July 31, 2010 5:25 PM Subject: [MOBARRY] New Good Afternoon, Thanks goes to Don Warner who sent us an update for the people in the reunion picture that he posted a couple of years ago. Here are the corrections that he sent. These were made by Roberta Decocq and family. # 9 - Omar Reed # 17 - Carl Warner # 26 - Lafay Decocq # 28 - Truman Reed # 29 - Lynn Mutrux # 30 - Donald Cloyd # 31 - Harold Cloyd # 35 - Omar Reed Jr. # 38 - Judy Lorene Reed # 39 - Louise Cloyd # 41 - Sibyl "Sis" Reed # 42 - Olan Decocq # 44 - Esther Warner http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/photos/photo-3/family.reunion.htm As some of you already know, the Barry County web site is under major reconstruction. All the old pages that were done with the older code standards are now being updated to newer code regulations. This is being done to insure us that these pages will be on the site and still readable with newer versions of the web browsers and other changes that come about. And, too as most of you know, we have been working on the obit section now for several moons. The purpose of this is to get them in all in a format where you can print them out a sheet and put them in your genealogy notebooks. This has been a long drawn out process and I can see now that the learning curve was a little wobbly along the way. I still have some more to convert to the newer format in "H", "M" and T. BUT the good news is that "R" is now done and most of H, M, and T are done, too. When finished all will have the same look and so let's hope that I find all of them that need to be changed. But If I miss any, just send me a link for it so that I can get it up to "snuff", too. Also - at the present time - you may see some that look a little weird in these same letters due to the work that is going on. If there are any that don't open or that are in the new format that look a little out of the ordinary, please, just, send me the link and I will see if I can "fix' it. If you posted an obit - go to it and look at it to see if it has your name and correct address on it, etc. And if not, just send me a link and tell me what needs to be added or changed. On questions or suggestions - sending a link is enough - please do not send the obit. For those who don't know how to do send a link - go to the address line and copy it then paste it to the message. It's easy. Don't laugh at my famous words - "You can do this - I know, because when my granddaughter was 7 years old she could do it." I didn't know how many obits we had - looks like 3,555 are on the site at the present time. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/data/obits.htm Okay, enough said, now back to the grind. 3. Donna, Does this help? November 6, 1913, Thursday, Cassville Republican, Barry Co., MO Seligman News: The body of W .S. Weston, was brought here from near Cassville, for burial the last of the week and was laid to rest in the Roller cemetery, south of town. Will had lived in Barry County all his life and was a good citizen and leaves a family to mourn his loss. David ----- Original Message ----- From: "Donna Cooper" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, August 05, 2010 12:15 PM Subject: [MOBARRY] Another Puzzle List Readers, here is another puzzle for your peacful and perhaps restful day. On the MoBarry site we have Marvelina Scroggins Weston buried in King or P. E. Roller - died in Apr 10, 1910 and was married to William Weston - information is from her death certificate. I now that her daughter Myrtle married Lemuel Berryhill, a brother to my grandmother, and I am pretty sure that she died in Montrey, CA. But - the puzzle is where are William and Marvelina buried. I noticed while working on the Roller Cemetery at Garfield that a lot of Weston folks are buried there and many of William's relatives. To add a little mud to the clearness of this - she has family in New Salem Cemetery. Marvelina Scroggins Weston's death certificate reads that she was buried in Roller Cemetery - and doesn't state Roller in AR, or MO so I assumed it was in MO or they would have added that it was in another state. She died of typhoid fever at age 35 and was a daughter of James and Elizabeth (Young) Scroggins, born in Carroll Co., AR. She was married to William. S. Weston, son of James Kelly and Mary Ann Elizabeth Arnold, buried in Roller at Garfield. In 1910 she had 6 children listed and was the wife of William Weston and in 1900 she was listed with W. S. Weston. They were in Sugar Creek Twp., which could place her close to either cemetery. I didn't find them on the 1910 plat map, because she died in April and her husband was already dead. Barry Co., Marriage record - June 8, 1890 and he was listed as W. S. Weston. William S. Weston was a son of James Kelly and Mary Ann Elizabeth (Arnold) Weston and they are buried in Roller Cemetery at Garfield. Now - here is the kicker. Since Lemuel Berryhill married Myrtle, her daughter, then I know for sure she would be living near Washburn because that is where he lived. So King - or P. E. Roller would make the more sense - more than taking her to Garfield to bury her. Can any of you help straighten out this puzzle? I just want our files to be correct.
