Betty I was doing a little homework on the Nichols family of Callaway... tell me how they are related to the Bakers... I am tracking a slaves or two who appeared to have been owned by William Nichols (or rather the Nichols family). Parents of one of the slaves was named GRANT; their daughter took the surname of her owner NICHOLS... she married a Samuel Tutt; neighbors to David Newsome in Callaway. I understand there was a Judge Grant who was murdered by a slave? Former slaves; Joe and Judy are 80 and 70 years old in 1870 living with Samuel & Harriett (Nichols) Tutt.
