"Moses Wilson married Mary Russell, of Virginia, and settled in Boone County, Kentucky. They had John H., Sarah, Martha, William, Elizabeth, Samuel,Susan, and Chrine. They had Sally, Martha A., Esther, WilliamW., Mary, Joseph R., Susan C. and Samuel M." John H. Wilson Based on cemetery recordsforwarded from Audrain County, Missouri, and from personal observation, John H. Wilson, my great-great-grandfatheris buried in the Berea Cemetery in Audrain County. Records indicate that he died on March 24th, 1872 at the age of 86 years, 5 months, 10 days. John H. moved to Missouri in 1834 after fighting in the War of 1812. I was able to find some additional information in a book entitled "Audrain Centennial History" According to this information, John was a native of Meade County, Kentucky, fought in the War of 1812, and ran one of the first steamers down the Mississippi River. John and Susan Simmons Wilson had a daughter named Mary ( b. 1827, d. 1902). Mary married a man named William Jamison Berry, a native of Virginia. William and Mary had a son named Robert W.Berry. Dr. Robert W. Berry later became a practicing doctor, county coroner, health commissioner, and later mayor of Mexico, Mo. from 1932 to 1934. "Dr. Robert W. Berry, mayor of Mexico from 1932 to 1934, was for long prominent in public affairs of this city, and of Audrain County, and was continuously engaged in the practice of medicine for more than a half a century. He was widely recognized as one of the leading physicians, and influential citizens, of his section of the state. Dr. Berry was born in Audrain County, on September 28th, 1861, his parents being William Jamison and Mary Wilson Berrey, natives of Virginia and Kentucky, respectively. The father, born in 1817, died in 1899, and the mother, born in 1827, died in 1902. James and Elizabeth Finks Berrey, paternal grandparents of Dr. Berrey, were Virginia plantation owners, and his maternal grandparents, John R. and Susan Simmons Wilson, were natives of Meade County, Kentucky, his grandfather, who served in the War of 1812, running one of the first steamers on the Mississippi." John H. Wilson had three sons, William W., Joseph R., and Samuel M. Wilson. Joseph R. married Elizabeth A. Glass. The exerpt from "Historyof Audrain County" indicates that "The father(Joseph R.) was arelative to Hon. R. P. C. Wilson, of Platte county, a distinguished lawyer and able State Senator of that section of the State." Going on, Joseph R. and Elizabeth A. (Glass)Wilson resided in Vernon County and had thirteen children, nine boys and four girls. The eldest son was named John H.Wilson, same as grandfather John H. Wilson, was reared in Audrain Co before relocating in Platte County. John married a Susan M. Threlkeld, of Monroe County, on November 25th, 1875 and raised livestock and farmed his entire life in the Salt River township. They had at least four children, Omar G.,Lula B., Mary G., and John C. Wilson (died after living about a month). I hope this information can help..Stay in Touch!
