I would like a lookup in the 1870 Audrain County Census for Milton Douglass and his family. Ancestry.com Census Index lists him on page 569, Salt River Township. Thanks again folks for all your help. Rod

Thanks Gerry That helps me get an idea of where the family lived. Howard
Hi Cathy My grandfather Edward Fitzpatrick was born in Linn, Audrain Co., MO in 1870 according to the Census 1880. Where is Linn in relation to Mexico? Thanks. Howard Fitzpatrick Chesapeake, VA
Howard, Linn Township would be the middle third part of Audrain County running fom just east of Mexico, including Rush Hill, to south of Farber. Does not go all the way to the Pike Co. line. Kind of hard to describe. ......Gerry ----- Original Message ----- From: Howard: > My grandfather Edward Fitzpatrick was born in Linn, Audrain Co., MO in 1870 > according to the Census 1880. Hello, I remember walking over that bridge going to school. My teacher was a Mrs. Johanaber. I was five years old and could see the water through the cracks in the floor of the bridge. ----- Original Message ----- From: Colley, Gary W. <cindycolley@ktis.net> To: <MOAUDRAI-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, October 19, 2001 5:31 PM Subject: Re: [MOAUDRAI] Mexico Covered Bridge > Union Covered Bridge is not far from Mexico, but it is in Monroe County. > That is the only covered bridge I know of. I remember a little bit about a Mexico Bridge but could not tell you where it was. There was one between Mexico and Paris on one of the main gravel roads but could not find the area now if my life depended on it. I was just too young. I don't know if my relatives would know anything or not. There are not many people left from my parents generation. I moved away in 1972 so will have to contact them. Kathy

I was reading about the covered bridges in Missouri, and it said that there were 5 left in Missouri in 1967 when the state took them over. Before they could get ownership of them the Mexico bridge was washed out by a flood. They then used parts of it to fix up the Union covered bridge at Paris. I don't know if it was anywhere close to Mexico, Missouri, but I assumed it was. Kevin: I grew up in Mexico, Missouri. I lived there between 1957-1966 and visited often from 1966-1995. I don't know, or recall, ever hearing about a "covered bridge". Do you know when it might have existed. Rod Austin TX
Union Covered Bridge is not far from Mexico, but it is in Monroe County. That is the only covered bridge I know of. The site below has a picture and description. Cindy http://www.marktwainlake.com/paris/bridge.html
Does anybody on this list know where the Mexico Covered Bridge was located? _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp

Do you have a Henry C. Tharp who m. Laura Alice Peery bef 1895 in Callaway Co, MO? I realize you are looking for lines from Audrain, but the Peerys were in Audrain in the 1860s. Some seemed to move around a bit. Just thought I would take the chance. I am seeking information regarding my second cousin 3 times removed Captain William Eller who served in Company K, 1st Missouri Cavalry. He was born April 7, 1833, in either Ohio County, Virginia or Marshall Co., W.Va. to Elias Eller and Mary Standiford. The family would later move to Audrain or Callaway Co., MO. He died, I believe, after August 1911 in Auxvasse, Callaway County and was supposedly buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Mexico, Audrain County, MO. Would there be any records available regarding his service in the Confederacy? Did he ever marry and have any children, etc.? Rod, Austin, TX.

I am looking for a Levi M. Tharp family possibly in the 1860 Audrain Co. or Callaway County Census. This family was in the 1850 Jefferson County, KY Census with the following members, but had disappeared by the time of the 1860 KY Census. My great grandfather, born in 1844, reported in an 1880 Audrain County Census that he and his parents were all born in KY. I have just about exhausted all the KY Tharp families who appeared in the 1850 and 1860 Kentucky Census: Levi M. Tharp 38 M Farmer Born in KY Harriet Tharp 31 F Housewife KY Joseph Tharp 9 M son KY Frances Tharp 7 F daughter KY James Tharp 5 M son KY Lydia Tharp 2 F daughter KY Fielding Tharp 2/12 M son KY I am in hopes that this may be my great-great grandfather, James Peter Tharp's long lost family. Most of my kinfolk settled in the southern Audrain County and northern Callaway County area after migrating from Kentucky. One note: My great-great grandfather's last name has appeared in records spelled "Tharpe", "Thorp" and "Thorpe" as well. Thanks, Rod, Austin, TX.
