    1. [MOAUDRAI] Union Chapel Church, south of Mexico in Audrain County
    2. Can anyone tell me if there is still an active congregation at Union Chapel Church south of Mexico? I have tried unsuccessfully several times to make contact with the pastor or members of this church by mail. My mail has never been returned, but still no response is ever received. My understanding is that the original church was organized on September 18, 1862 by James F. Smith who was also its first pastor. According to one brief history, that I have found an Elizabeth Green was a charter member of the congregation. I believe that Elizabeth (or Eliza as she was also known) was my 3rd great grandmother, the mother of James Edward Green. Both he and his wife, Sarah, were members of this same church according to their obituaries. I have been trying to locate any records that the church might have regarding its early years and its membership. I understand that there is a cemetery (perhaps, two) located next to and, possibly, across from this church. Does anyone have a transcription of those folks buried there? It's possibly that the church and/or cemetery might also be known as "Seed Tick". I know that my great-great-great grandmother lived to be, at least, 75 years old. She was living with her son and daughter-in-law as late as June 5, 1880 when she was enumerated with them in that year's Census. A visit to the Byrns family burying grounds where James E. and Sarah F. Byrns Green are entombed did not reveal her tombstone at that location. My thought is that if she was a charter member of Union Chapel Church there might be a strong possiblilty that she is buried there. Can anyone connect me with someone that perhaps belongs to the present day church with access to such information? Thanks to all for any assistance you might provide. Rod Green, Austin, TX

    1. [MOAUDRAI] From List Mom - 2nd Quarterly Report - 2002
    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. Dear List Members, Here it is the first of July and I am late in sending you the Second Quarterly Report. I was in Maryland and Delaware enjoying three of my children their spouses and five of my grandchildren for the 4th of July. Due to the lateness of this report I am not going to send the individual numbers of members for each of the lists I take care of. It is an all day job. If any of you really want to know how many are on your list, just e-mail me at KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net and ask. Be sure and let me know what list you are asking about. If you are interested in knowing about other mailing list out there, one of the very best inventories of genealogical mailing lists is John Fuller’s Genealogy Resources on the Internet located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html If you ever need to unsubscribe from this list or any rootsweb list all you need to do is visit Password Central located at http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ Follow the instructions and you will received an e-mail of all lists you belong to and from it you can unsubscribe from the ones you want to. Always know that I will be more than happy to help you if you are having problems unsubscribing, you only need to ask. Please send this request to KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net not to the entire list. If you would like to visit the Archived messages of this list, go to http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ and type in the name of the list you would like to search and from there you can search by dates. There are a few items I would like to suggest for the benefit of each of us. 1. When sending a posting to the list it would help if you would put the subject of your posting in the subject line. Doing this also might give you a better chance to attract the attention of someone who has the information you are looking for or the attention of someone who is searching for the information you are posting. Many members are on many many lists and when they see a subject line that reads "My Ancestors" they just delete it. 2. If someone posts a message to the list that should not have been posted, please just delete it. Know that I am taking care of the problem. If you post your unhappiness, then you just continue on the problem. I know it is hard when your heart has been offended, but for my sake, and the sake of the list, please just delete it. Rootsweb has a wonderful Spam Detective and it stops most of it. You should see what comes across my screen. I have to look at each of them to make sure that what was stopped was truly Spam. Once in a while, one slips by though and if this happens, just delete it and go on with what we all love, genealogical research. 3. Please remember to delete the tags and un-needed words when you re-send a message to the list with your answer. If you don't check this, your responses can become quite large and may cause problems with some of our member's servers. This member who might not be able to receive your message because of its size, just might be your long lost second cousin with all the answers you are looking for. 4. The wonderful relationship that develops between list members is also one of a Mailing Lists Problems. I encourage you to respond to the entire list with genealogical responses, you never know who your response will help. In the same thought I would like to ask you to not respond to the entire list with personal responses. Such as, the first message from a member says "Happy Birthday Mary" and then Mary says "Thank you” and then about 60 of our members also send "Happy Birthday Mary". This is what I mean by personal messages. Just keep in mind anything is ok to be posted as long as it has to do with the subject of the list. I know there are exceptions to most rules including this one. If you have a doubt ask me. KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net 5. Remember to keep your Virus protection up to date and never open any attached file unless you are 100% sure what it is and even then you are taking a chance. 6. Now the hardest thing is when one of our own, a fellow member becomes upset about a posting, something I have done or not done. It is so hard not to jump in and add our two cents. I want you to know how much I appreciate it when you just let these posting go by and delete them. Know that I am behind the scenes taking care of the problem. If you ever have a concern that I might have missed a message that needs addressed you are welcome to contact me during the day at Kathleen.burnett@era.com or in the evenings at KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net. Please remember, so that this list is better for each of us, the posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, flames, etc., in other words Spam is NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal. Consideration for exceptions, contact me at KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net I want to thank each of you for your continued support of me and your willingness to help make this list the success it is. It is your list and is here for your benefit. If you have suggestions or comments you would like in future reports, you only need to send them to me. 1. [MOAUDRAI] FROM LIST MOM REGARDING OFF TOPIC MESSAGES
    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. Please do not post topics to this list other than the subject of the list which is Audrain Co., MO. This is not the list to discuss computer, types, brands or the pros and cons. You might want to check John Fuller's list for mailing list that deal with computers http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail_software.html I am sorry that it is necessary to control the list in this manner, but if each of our 164 members sent an off topic message and there were two to three responses to each message, we would soon be over run by messages dealing with many topics that when first sent alone seemed to be OK. I appreciate your help with this. If ever you have a question as to posting a off topic message, please contact me. 1. [MOAUDRAI] From List Mom - New Mailing List - The Buffalo Hunters
    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. Dear List Members, I know this list will effect only a few of you, but thought I would let you know of it beginning. The Buffalo-Hunters Mailing list was approved yesterday and now is ready to subscribe to. If you have ancestors who were Buffalo Hunters and or are interested in their history, this list will be the place to learn about the Buffalo Hunters of the Old West. I had two great uncles who were hired by the U.S. Government as Buffalo Hunters. Living in 2002 I know what they did caused starvation to a group of people, waste and the near annihilation of a species. Of this I am not proud, but what they did is a part of the history of this country and I am proud of them for doing what they thought was right at that time. To join, send only the word SUBSCRIBE to BUFFALO-HUNTERS-L-REQUEST@ROOTSWEB.COM I look forward to the Buffalo-Hunters Mailing List becoming another tool for each of us to understand the world out ancestors lived in. 1. [MOAUDRAI] ADMIN NOTICE RE MAILING LISTS
    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. Starting today (Monday, 6/10) and extending over several days, RootsWeb is going to be moving the list servers and other machines. No messages sent are expected to be lost, but the lists will be down for a while when it happens; during this time, please don't post "why am I not getting mail"....you will get your mail when the system comes back up, and you don't want half of it to be everyone on the list asking why aren't they getting mail. If you have trouble reaching other RW servers this week, it's probably for the same reason; try again in an hour or two or three..... Kathleen Burnett List Mom
