I am quite new to this list and have traced Aylette Walden from his birth county of Rappahannock CO, VA to Audrain CO. I learned that he had migrated to MO when I found the will of his mother dated 1848. He apparently was accompanied by a brother William M. Walden. I am particulalry interested in sharing information about Aylette Walden, who may have been either a farmer or a merchant. Thank you.

Does anyone have access to the probate, estate, or wills of Warren County? Daniel Taylor, born 1748 and died iabout Sept. 1840 in Warren or Audrain County. His final pension was paid at Bridgeport, Warren, MO. I am looking for proof that Joseph born 1802 was his son. Does anyone have cemetery records that might have Daniel Taylor buried there? Thanks for any help. Charlotte

A database on Ancestry.com shows that there was an obituary for my great-great grandmother, Louisa (Luly) Bodkin in the Mexico Intelligencer shortly after her death on June 30, 1913. It is said to have appeared as "Mrs. Zach BOTKINS". Her husband, my great-great grandfather, Zachary Taylor Bodkin died on February 21, 1941. His obituary appeared as Zachary BODKINS in the February 27, 1941 edition of the Intelligencer. Would anyone in Audrain County have access to copies of the actual obituaries? If so, could I request an actual copy of transcription of both? I would be more than happy to reimburse a kind soul for their time & effort. Thanks. Rod Green
Am looking for any information such as births, deaths, burial for Margaret "Liter" Butler whose husband may have been William D. Butler. They lived at one time in Cass/Morgan Co, IL & eventually moved to Vandalia. Time frame of move not known. This is all that I know about this family, as the information I got from my greatgreatuncle's obit. Thank you for any help you can give me. Bobbie
I am seeking an obit or article concerning the death of my great-grandfather, Jefferson Hamlett, who, according to the funeral records of Grainger Undertaking Co. of Laddonia, Audrain County, Missouri (compiled by Doris Kistler in 1980), committed suicide by hanging on Sept. 15, 1932. He is buried at Central Union Cemetery. Any assistance would be appreciated. According to the funeral home records he was married to Clara Hamlett (I believe her maiden name to be Williams) and he was the son of William J. Hamlett and Altha (Bufford) who are also supposedly buried at Central Union Cemetery. Also, a lookup of all Hamlett graves at Central Union Cemetery would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! B. Warner
I am looking for information on David Hudelson,he was married to Anna Icenogle.Their children were Ralph,Emma,Louis,Stella,Homer,Eddy ( my grandpa ),and Ray.I know they were in Audrain County in 1900,but I can not find them after that. Pearl Thomas
Dear List Members, If you are interested in knowing about other mailing list out there, one of the very best inventories of genealogical mailing lists is John Fullers Genealogy Resources on the Internet located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html If you ever need to unsubscribe from this list or any rootsweb list all you need to do is visit Password Central located at http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ Follow the instructions and you will received an e-mail of all lists you belong to and from it you can unsubscribe from the ones you want to. Always know that I will be more than happy to help you if you are having problems unsubscribing, you only need to ask. Please send this request to KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net not to the entire list. If you would like to visit the Archived messages of this list, go to http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ and type in the name of the list you would like to search and from there you can search by dates. If you are having problem and I do not answer you right away, know that I will. I like many of you work full time outside of my home. I am fortunate that I can check my e-mail any time I wish, but know that there are spaces of time I cannot. I always check my e-mail each and every evening and will respond to message that need me then and there. There are a few items I would like to suggest for the benefit of each of us. 1. When sending a posting to the list it would help if you would put the subject of your posting in the subject line. Doing this also might give you a better chance to attract the attention of someone who has the information you are looking for or the attention of someone who is searching for the information you are posting. Many members are on many many lists and when they see a subject line that reads "My Ancestors" they just delete it. 2. When posting a query regarding a surname it would help all of us if you would put your surname in CAPS. This way the members can easily pick out the surnames you are looking for. On the other hand when the entire message is in CAPS we feel that we are being yelled at. 3. Please remember to delete the tags and un-needed words when you re-send a message to the list with your answer. If you don't check this, your responses can become quite large and may cause problems with some of our member's servers. This member who might not be able to receive your message because of its size, just might be your long lost second cousin with all the answers you are looking for. 5. Remember to keep your Virus protection up to date and never open any attached file unless you are 100% sure what it is and even then you are taking a chance. 6. Now, the hardest thing is when one of our own, a fellow member becomes upset about a posting from one from one of us. It is so hard not to jump in and add our two cents. I want you to know how much I appreciate it when you just let these posting go by and delete them. Know that I am behind the scenes taking care of the problem. If you ever have a concern that I might have missed a message that needs addressed you are welcome to contact me during the day at Kathleen.burnett@era.com or in the evenings at KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net. 7. If your list has the gateway open, meaning the messages posted on the board also hit he list, know that every once in a while a SPAM message that is caught by the Board filter slips through the gateway and hits the list before it can be stopped. JUST DELETE IT. By responding the the list regarding he offending message, you just continue it on, and there is not one thing I can do about it at that point. Please remember, so that this list is better for each of us, the posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, flames, etc., in other words Spam is NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal. Consideration for exceptions, contact me at KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net I want to thank each of you for your continued support of me and your willingness to help make this list the success it is. It is your list and is here for your benefit. If you have suggestions or comments you would like in future reports, you only need to send them to me. I've just discovered the name of Mrs. Lucinda Caldwell in Ancestry.com's database, "Audrain Co., Missouri Obituaries, 1885-1903". It is my understanding that this database is compiled from obits published in the Mexico Intelligencer. Is this collection of obituaries available any where for actually viewing? The historical society or genealogy library, perhaps? The database states that Mrs. Lucinda Caldwell died on 11 December 1902 at "abt. 77 years" old. I think that this may be my ggg-grandmother Lucinda Snodgrass Bodkin Caldwell--widow of David Caldwell and William Bodkin respectively. She was born in Harrison County, KY. I am anxious to know details of this obituary. I will be forever grateful for any assistance. Rod Green
Dear List Members, I just ran across an interesting Website, "Courthouse Experiences" http://www.bcpl.net/~dmg/courthouse.htm Not every county is listed, but the ones listed gave helpful information regarding the attitudes of those working in the courthouses. I might suggest that if you have had a positive or negative courthouse experience you add them to this site. I now know how to prepare myself for several courthouses I want to visit later this year. Does anyone know where I might find a reference to a Williams Family Cemetery on the Peabody Coal Co. property, NE of Hinton, Boone County, MO? I know this is an Audrain County site, but thought someone might know...trying to find my GGG Grandfather, James Williams, and I also believe his brother Isaac is buried there. Thanks, Ken Krawczyk
Is there a transcription of burials at Elmwood Cemetery, Mexico, Audrain County? I need a date of birth and death for David C. and Ada L. Hollopeter who I believe are buried there. David was born about 1874 in Iowa--I believe. Ada in about 1880 in Illinois. Also, looking for burial records for their daughter, Mary E. Hollopter & her husband, Luke R. Edwards. Mary died on Feb. 6, 2003 and according to her obituary was to have been buried in Elmwood. Luke Edwards died on July 7, 1974 and I am assuming was buried there also. If section, row and plot numbers are available, I would appreciate that information as well. Thanks, Rod Green
For those of you seeking African American Ancestors in Missouri -- please check and post to the message boards provided below It has been some time since I have been able to update additional records to my African Americans in Missouri website -- but I do continue to get many, many queries and attempt to assistance each person who contacts me via email. If you have slave related documents you would like to share; please feel free to email, fax or snail mail them to me. Over the past year -- my computer died, but now I have a new system. I was unable to retrieve some documents from my old system. I now have a new powerful system with CD/DVD burner and everything so I can retain and hold much more data and images safely. If you have sent me photos in the past year; and recollect what you sent; please send me an email reminder so I can check my index of goodies and make sure I have it. Hello List, I am researching the Thomas and Catherine Green Family. They lived in Vandalia for years and are buried in the Vandalia cemetery. I'm trying to find who their parents were. I know Thomas' parents came from England and I know Catherine came from Wales. Thomas was born in 1864 in Illinois, according the the 1920 census, and died in 1929 and Catherine was born in 1867 in Merthyr Tidvil, Wales, and died in 1925. Does anyone know anything about this family? Thank you, Susan in Montana lsricecybar@yahoo.com __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo!
