    1. Re: Stevenson Family
    2. In the Early Time of Atchison County, a book of newspaper accounts of Atchison County, I find a John Stevenson listed on 22 October 1887: Tarkio Hunters- The Tarkio hunters have their annual hunt next Thursday. The usual supper is to follow the hunt and is to be paid for by the loosing side. The roster is as follows: Captain Wolfe- Reed Scott, Frank VanLeuven, Jake Torley, John Riffe, Wm. Bettinger, Wm. M. VanLueven, Tom Christian, Hugh Roberts, A. Clayton, Ike Clark, Jim Farley, Ren Irvin, Lew White, H. Clark, T.J. Emmert, Steve Thomson, Wm. Travis, Chris Selby, Dave Wolf, D.W. Airy, D. Jenson, W.O. Miller, S. Newell, Perry Gray, C Waite. Captain Ohl- Frank Hurn, Howard Matthews, W.F. Rankin, Whoop-em-up, Tom Davis, Fred Schoenecke, H.C. Bailey, John Muller, Ben Schaun, Geo. Gordon, Tom Heath, Ed Travis, Geo. Harwood, D. Rankin, Frank Travis, Sam Lewis, J.R. Robertson, J. W. Marshall, JOHN STEVENSON, Rol Gowdy, A.J. Miller, Clark Rankin, Jim McCollister, Dan Griffith, Harry Miller(Atchison County Journal). There was no follow up in the book as to which team won! There is another entry for 22 March 1918 in the Tarkio Avalanche that says: City News - Among those who heard Henry Lauder at St. Joseph Monday are: Mrs. Cora Reeves, Mrs. J.M. Hurst, Mrs. George Stevenson, Mrs. Ida Sutherland, Mrs. Henry Boettner and daughter, Miss Lulu, Mrs. J.P. Martin, Mrs W.P. Carpenter, and Mrs. H.W. Hurst. This Mrs. George Stevenson is not necessarily yours as I found several Georges, with different middle names in the cemetery book, but then again it could be yours! There were also index entries for Bob Stevenson, Mrs. R.M., and Dr. Stewart Stevenson.
