A marriage record exists for the marriage of Belle McClelland to Isaiah W. Snell in 1873. On the 1880 census Isabel McClelland is living in the household of her parents John & Elizabeth McClelland. Also in this household is 6-year old Charles Snell. I have been unable to locate a census record for Isaiah. However, in Grundy County in January 1882, there is a marriage record of Isaiah to Hattie J. Merryman. It would appear that Belle/Isabel died prior to that date, but what happened to Charles? I am unable to identify Charles on the 1900 census, so perhaps he died also. Is there a record of typhoid, cholera, or some such widespread disease in Adair County in the period 1880/1881?
