Thank you Gary and Claire for your continued service to preserve Adair County history and make it available for family researchers! I want to add that the Adair Count Historical Society is having a membership drive. The Adair County Historical Society has the approval to place four historical markers on the courthouse square. The first one describes the Battle of Kirksville and was placed on the southeast side of the courthouse in '06. The second marker, Cyclone of April 27, 1899, will be erected on the southwest side of the courthouse in April '07. The third and fourth markers will be erected on the north side of the courthouse. One will be a history of Adair County and the other about the three Adair County Courthouses. ACHS hopes to have all four of these by late 2007. Each one of these historic markers cost approximately $2,000. The ACHS is accepting donations from members, non-members, service organizations and businesses. Any non-member who makes a $15 donation or more will receive a 2007 membership to the historical society. Any individual or organization who makes a donation of $1,000 or more will have the name inscribed on a plaque at the historical society. All donations are fully tax deductible within the limits of the law. With your membership you receive The Adair Historian, published in January, April, July and October and you are welcome to the Annual Meetings. The next event is our Spring Fling, Days Inn, Dinner - April 14, '07, 4:00 p.m. Program includes The Harmony Four. Claudia, Your email reminds me. I haven't yet set the updated obit file to you for off site storage. It's attached to this email as a text file. FYI - Claire and I already donated $200 to the Historical marker fund. We'll help spread the word to others though.
