    1. Martha Willis
    2. CL Krajnik
    3. Hello List, My great grandmother MARTHA ELIZABETH WILLIS born abt 1877 in Missouri. She was said to have been 1/2 Indian and Irish by my grandmother Mamie Saner Stokes and her sister Effie Saner Butler and Effie's daughters recent letters to me. They are in their late 80's and still as sharp as tacks. We have nothing befor Martha's Mrg Lic. records to William SANER at the age of 12 yrs, 9mths, in 1889 Adair Co., Missouri. She was under the guardian ship of Wms father Jacob Saner. Why??? Where were her parents? Also the 1900 & 1910 Adair, Missouri Census gave us a bit more info. She died in 1911. I have the 1880 census Cd's & looked for WILLIS of any spelling in MO. who might have been from Ireland/England with a 2-4 yr old Martha or Elizabeth and a Indian wife but no luck. Looked for any Martha's in that age group but didn't find her as the oldest child as was told she was by grandmother Mamie. I then looked for any Martha's 2-4 yrs old. Nothing felt right. What I need is for someone to politely tell me where to go !! and look next. Web or LDS films. Iowa? No mention of that state for family untill later in 1910-1920. Thanks Cheryl in Idaho

    3. Gary, The Kent Funeral Home Records are now on "Our Adair Site": http://www.rootsweb.com/~moadair/cemeteries/KentFuneralRecords.PDF Please pass on my "Thank You" to Ron Kent for providing this information. and assure him that it will never be sold. One of the reasons I use PDF files is so that I can have some control over the data. I place a pass word so that people can not cut and past the information and sell it on some of those CD's we all know about or find it on a site that sells information. People can search and zoom with pdf files, but can't cut and paste the information. I can also place a pass word that would prohibit people from printing it, but don't. One would have to re-type all the info in order to steal it, and besides it is copy righted. My volunteers and I have discussed this in length and we all feel "proud and happy" to provide data for people to search their family history for FREE. Thank you so much for including this data in our search. As I have time, I will go back and re-format it in a table form so that all the info is lined up and easier to follow. It will take a while, just don't have time right now. *smile* Sincerely, Claudia Minor http://www.rootsweb.com/~moadair/ ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gary G. 1. Lost --- Found Tombstone
    2. Joanne Scobee Morgan
    3. This would belong to I. John Scobee, who I show is buried in the Morelock Cemetery. He was born Feb 7, 1809, and was the exact age when he died somewhere in Adair Co. as the stone says. He is my gr gr grandfather! My folks had a new stone placed on his grave back in the mid to late 1970's. I believe that the stone he had at the time was taken to my uncle Dade's house in Greencastle. He used it to level his sidewalk or for a stepping stone or something. I know my mother was TICKED OFF that he would disgrace something so old in that manner and you don't know HOW many times she has told me she wished she knew where it was so she could go and save it! I wonder how it ever got into Novinger! I bet it could tell a LOT of stories! I'd love to have it. Thanks SO much for alerting me to this wayward stone! 1. family reunion
    2. Joanne Scobee Morgan
    3. Hi. Recently I heard that there has been a family reunion around the Kirksville area... then the lady that had seen the article (I know she is from and subscribes to a Linn Co., newspaper) said she thought it was around Sullivan Co., so I'm sending this letter to all the counties I just mentioned. She said the article mentioned the names of those who attended the _____ Scobee _____ reunion. She couldn't recall the 2 other surnames that were mentioned but knew that Scobee had been the middle one. She told me about this yesterday and this a.m. had to go to the emergency room with what they think is a small stroke. Is there anyone out there that happens to have that newspaper that would be willing to send me the names of those in attendance??? I'd be ever so grateful. Joanne Scobee Morgan

    2. Robert L Webb
    3. Dear list members, We have recently added county pages to our website for about eighty (80) counties in the State of Missouri, in which we hope to enter sketch histories and where possible, surnames of members, of Primitive Baptist Churches. This project is still in its beginning stages, as we have only recently completed entered such information for the states of Illinois and Iowa, and we are working on several midwestern states. We have been trying to locate and determine the existence of our church records, for several years, and have several of them in our possession, but there are many which have eluded us. We are now notifying the county lists for those counties in which we have at least begun to enter the sketch histories of the churches. You may wish to make a bookmark on our website and come back from time to time, as we enter more information. We also welcome you to write in our Guestbook, or write to us with any information which may help in our project. We welcome you, of course, to look over our rather extensive website. We ask your patience in replying to inquiries, but we welcome your comments. Here is our homepage (from here you can click on a link for Church and Family History Assistance for Iowa, Wisconsin and Missouri, and then arrow down to the county you wish to explore in Missouri. http://www.carthage.lib.il.us/community/churches/primbap/pbl.html (the ".html" must be complete at the appendage or the link will not work - the URL is too long in some cases for one line).
