Hello, Can anyone tell me the names of any Primitive Baptist Churches in the southern part of Adair county around 1850-1860? I am particularly interested in learning if there were any near the town of Yarrow. Thank you, Christine Dale
Hi, I am researching the family of Orange Marion Morris of Knox and Adair Co. His wife is Hester Botts, daughter of Thomas Tutt Botts and Nancy Wash. Thomas T. Botts' third wife was Cynthia Mann. Cynthia's first husband was an Emerson and she had a son James. These families lived in the mid to late 1800's and early 1900's. Orange and Hester had a son Logan John who drowned at age 19 in the river just S.W. of Kirksville. Would like to hear from anyone else researching these families. Loretta
I am looking for some elusive Bruce ancestors. My great-great grandfather, Thomas Robinson, married Antoinette Wallace (aka Anna) in 1880. Her parents were Lucy Gaines Bruce and James P. Wallace, who married in Shelby County, IL in 1840. An internet listing states that Lucy Gaines Bruce Wallace died in Pollock, MO, in 1898. I can find nothing on her. Does anyone know anything about Lucy Gaines Bruce and James Wallace?
Dear List, I am searching for Descendants of Russell Conner & Hattie Stites. Their children were sons, Audrey, Cecil & Robert R. and daughters Mary and Zelma Fern. All 5 children were born in Greentop in Adair Co., Mo. All are buried in the Fort Madison Church Cemetery. Are there any members of this family still living in Adair County, Missouri? I am trying to locate any living children of these persons. They would be my cousins. Any information is greatly appreciated. I have GILSON & COVERT surnames from Census Place: 1880 - Morrow Twp., Adair County, Missouri; Although family stories had them living in Putnum County, Missouri. I have never found my GILSON family on the 1870 census so it is possible they may have first lived in Putnum County and by 1880 moved to Adair County. Hello Everyone, Since most of the location lists for which I serve as Administrator are fairly slow right now, I decided to take this opportunity to hand out a little advice about posting your queries. These ideas are not intended to be hard rules. Instead, these are simply ways for you to have more of a chance that an interested party will read your post (not just delete it). Firstly, make sure that the subject line of your post mentions the surname of your post in capital letters. If you have the given name in the subject line, do not capitalize it. Another good thing to put into the subject line is a time-frame. So, for example, you might have a subject line reading something like: HUDSON (1820-present) -or- Susan (GIBSON) ELLIS (b ca 1879) Then, when you type the query itself, make sure to use caps for all of the surnames... but never use caps for the given names. We all want the exposure that having posts on the lists gives to us. So, use these ideas as a guide to making the most out of the time you spend to ready the query. Then, also take that information and use it, in much the same way, to post to the county's query board. BTW, signing your post makes it much more personal. And, makes it much more likely that someone will indeed respond if s/he has a connection or has some help for you. Fondest Genealogical Regards, Leslie Kohler
