    3. Y'all may recall that, last month, I posted the names of the 8760 who signed a petition in St. Louis in 1877. I was (rightly) faulted for presenting this list in a column of 8760 lines. Tough reading! Indeed, I consider it too much to read, and would recommend using the browser's search function for names of interest. In one sense, inasmuch as there is no apparent reason for the sequence in which the names are presented in the newspaper, it would not be too bad for me to alphabetize the list for easier reading, but then it would be very difficult for a family historian to verify my readings, and typing, of the names - and one should always check the original source. Nevertheless, it is now posted in four columns. By the way, in an effort to do it the easy way, I copied the list to MSWord, set it in four columns, then saved it as a html file. The html file ended up as a single column! So, I put it into a table. Bob Doerr in the beautiful Missouri Ozarks Please see http://www.rollanet.org/~bdoerr/Petition.htm
