Here is a tidbit for the out-of-towners in our group: Did you know that the circulating collection of the National Genealogical Society is located at the St. Louis County Library in Missouri? Every book in the NGS Special Collection at St. Louis is available for Interlibrary Loan. Members and non members are advised to check the NGS Online Catalog to search for books of interest. Books available for loan carry the notation "SLCL - NGS Collection." Please print the catalog record and take it to a public or other library through which you can make the ILL request. Your librarian should contact the St. Louis County Library directly. Their OCLC code is ZAE. Books are available for loan to both members and non-members. The catalog for the circulating collection is here: http://64.7.52.99/TLCScripts/interpac.dll?SearchForm?Directions=1&config=pac/ So, if you can't find what you are looking for in your own library, maybe you can find it in the NGS collection held at the St. Louis County Library. I like the search engine because it allows me to see if a book is at the County Library before going there. Diane Shaw Antonia, MO
Diane makes a very good point. We have another really good source for ILL of family-history and genealogy books, namely, the Genealogy Department of the Mid-Continent Public Library at Independence. The catalog, called 'Genealogy from the Heartland' is viewable at http://www.mcpl.lib.mo.us/ge/heartland/ Bob Doerr in the beautiful Missouri Ozarks Please see http://www.rollanet.org/~bdoerr/state.htm ----- Original Message ----- From: "Diane" <lilirish@gtw.net> To: <MO-STLOUIS-METRO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, September 01, 2003 10:55 AM Subject: [StL-Metro] out of towners can borrow books from the SLCL thru the NGS > Here is a tidbit for the out-of-towners in our group: > > Did you know that the circulating collection of the National > Genealogical Society is located at the St. Louis County Library in > Missouri?
