I have been trying for sometime to find Mary Florence Heister Johnen in the 1880 census. She was the widow of Julius Johnen. They both came to St Louis around 1875. He was listed in the 1877 city director as a painter, but he died in March of that year and is buried in St. Marcus . Jim, they are the ones who lived at 1511 Ridgley, but Mary promptly moved. In fact, I think she moved every year. I have different addresses for her for every year except she wasn't listed in the 1880 directory. She was listed as a milliner in 1881 at 1226 N. 13th.. In a sense I have found her - listed in the 1st enumeration as M. F. Johnson but there is no available image. I found several children listed; one of which Gertrude married a George Eberle in 1894. The 1870 census from Cincinnati, OH lists a Henrietta instead of Gertrude but the right age for Gertrude. Gertrude was my husband's grandmother. I have been trying to find the Johnen family in the 2nd 1880 enumeration but so far without luck. Can anyone help me figure out what ed. the above address would be? The address in 1879 was 1326 N. 7th so she stayed in the general area once she moved north from Ridgley. Thank you for any thoughts on how to narrow down my census search!
