Hello Listers, Most of you on this list already know that St. Louis City divorced itself from St. Louis County in 1876. It is both a city and a county by itself. But it usually comes as a surprise to those who assume it must be in the county of the same name. Anyone living in the City of St. Louis can get a free library card from St. Louis Public Library which is in the City. It receives taxes from the City. Anyone living in St. Louis County can get a free library card from the St. Louis County Library, which receives taxes from the County. Some of us who live in the County have contributed yearly to the Friends of the St. Louis Public Library in the City and do get a free card. I don't know if this would entitle us to use Heritage Quest in the City. Hope this helps to clear up some location problems for new researchers. LaVerne
