Actually, the museum was here for many years prior to the earthquake panic and Iben Browning in 1990. Has a great Civil War display, along with Native American artifacts. The siege of New Madrid in April 1862 or 1863 (can't remember which without looking, right now) is covered in the display. Considered by some to be a minor issue of the Civil War, it was important in the control of the Mississippi River. We had national news people interviewing local news station broadcasters (for something to do) during the earthquake "scare". KSHE radio from St. Louis set up at a local bar to broadcast.
