    3. To the list: I paid 50 dollars for a St. Louis County Library card. I live in Jefferson County. Taxes in Jeff County are considerably lower than they are in St. Louis County. As a Jeff County resident who uses absolutely every genealogical resource that the St. Louis County Library has to offer, I have absolutely no problem with paying $50.00. It is money well spent. However, I recognize that not everyone will agree with that. You can use the St. Louis County Library free of charge - even if you are from Jefferson County and do not pay taxes to St. Louis County. They do ask for your card when you use a computer and for other services. I bought a card because I felt it was the right thing to do and because I want to have Heritage Quest access as well as access to the books and internet PCs at the St. Louis County library. I have a St. Louis City library card because I work in the city of St. Louis and therefore I pay the 1 percent city earnings tax. Library membership is the only advantage I see that I get for the 1 percent tax. Folks who work in the city have the right to a St. Louis Public Library Card. I don't know their policy about membership for St. Louis County residents. Diane Shaw Antonia, MO (in the beautiful rolling hills of Jefferson County- Little Kerry)
