Hello, I have encountered an unusual dilemma in my research with the SCHRADER family. Here is the scenario and any super sleuths welcome. This is about my relative Laura BAUMANN. She was born in 1898 and she died in 1972 - burial is at Sunset Memorial Park. Laura's obituary of Auigust 31, 1972 - SCHRADER, (nee BAUMANN) wife of the late John SCHRADER, Her mother was Emma BAUMANN, nee BRINKMANN. Emma remarried before her death to a George REMSHARDT. Emma BAUMANN died in 1929 and in her obituary she referred to her daughter, Laura, as Laura SCHRADER. 1930 Census No Laura SCHRADER 1930 Census has a Laura BAUMANN recorded as Laura REMSHARDT - married to a George supposedly 40 years old. Laura's step-father, George REMSHARDT was born in 1868 so should have been about 62. A sister is also named as Lulu who is the right age to be George's (1868) daughter, but her surname is listed as BAUMANN. I think the correct census should read Laura BAUMANN, Lulu REMSHARDT, and George's age should be 62, not 40. George's occupation in 1920 was a chauffeur and the same in 1930. 1920 CENSUS - SCHRADER, John L. (28) married to Anna (25). 1930 CENSUS - SCHRADER, John L. (38) married to Anna (35) daughter Doris (11yrs) I have an obituary from St. Louis Post Dispatch - for SCHRADER, John May 1942. His residence was 2700 Caroline St., he was the husband to the late Anna (nee ROMAG) and father of Doris Schuermeyer. His internment is Sunset Memorial Park. Several years ago I visited Sunset and took photographs of graves. There is no doubt - John Schrader is buried there 1942 Grave stones say "Dear John" born Nov 28, 1891 and died May 6, 1942 - "Dear Laura" born Oct 2, 1898 and died August 30, 1972. These two graves are next to each other. There is also a hugh upright stone which says REMSHARDT/SCHRADER. Big question: John's obituary never referred to any Laura who was still living, only to Anna, deceased. Yet this same man is buried next to Laura. How can this be? This burial is the exact same date as the obituary for John.
