Does anyone have any thoughts about the st. Louis genealogical Society? I just got my membership renewal notice. $28 for an individual membership seems a little steep. Especially after my wife has already climbed on my back about my Ancestry.com bill. But at least with Ancestry you get something tangible. Does anyone know what the tangible benefits of SLGS are? I am kind of wishing they would be more pro-active in getting volunteers together on these Obituary indices. The whole area of death indices need some work too, it seems to me. Do you have to be a member to use the headquarters resources? (I've only used the HQ for a total of 30 minutes the whole time I have been there.) One of my ancestors qualifies for one of their three award categories (not the earliest one, he came in 1830s). One of these days I am going to get around to submitting my qualifications for that. Does anyone know if you have to be a SLGS member for that? Thanks R. Emmett McAuliffe
