My mother loved talking about her family's past, but her sisters did not. When I asked one of her sisters a question she got irritated and did not want to have to think about it. Thank goodness that I asked questions from my grandmother and mother. My mother had a first cousin who also was interested and gave me many photos of grgrandparents, aunts, and uncles. Without her I would not have gotten as far. From this I have been able to find a second cousin that I did not know that I had. We have connected and enjoy sharing stories and research together. We even meet from time to time. The sad thing about all this is that my mother has dementia and can no longer remember anything, including me. How I wish that I had one hour to just talk and share with her all that I have found. She would be thrilled. Diane H.
