    3. Hi Pat: This was all Ancestry had in StL - obviously no census. I did find a Mathias Kroupa listed in a "Dead Letter" notice from the Traverse City Post Office, in the Grand Traverse Herald dated 19 Apr 1883. Perhaps he lived there prior to St. Louis? If so, he probably came by train thriugh Chicago. Slavic name? Did you check the Ellis Island page?
