I do generally identify photos when I get them back from developing. The times I've neglected to do this or when the film was still in the camera from last year's vacation, I've been very annoyed with myself. I identify all people, pets, places and dates. When my first child was born, I came across "The Grandparents' Book" in the bookstore. It has prompts which help you tell your life story, which may not be interesting to you, but could well be fascinating to your grandchildren. My mom is 71 and has been talking all her life but I only started listening these past ten years. I've already heard stories from her childhood but it's good to record them because I may not be around to relate them to my grandchildren. These "life stories" also give the reader a feel for what life was like in the good old days. I'm sure my girls, or even I, could not imagine what is was like to wake up in an unheated room in the middle of winter, or to have to go outside to go to the bathroom. My mom also talks about coming home from school and spreading the cream that collected on top of the milk on a piece of bread and sprinkling it with sugar for a snack. She also has pictures of "threshing" and her father driving a team of mules down Manchester Rd. when it was a tiny two-lane road with houses right next to it. Things sure have changed! Gail Schneider
