Since we are discussing the Masons, can anyone tell me if the Scottish Rite Library still exists ? Back in 1949 (before my time) the Globe Democrat did an excellant series on, "St. Louis History in Pictures". Many of the photos were courtesy of the Scottish Rite Library of St. Louis. These photos are amazing, I have never seen many of them before. Wide panaramic views of the city back in the 1870's; street scenes of people at work; camp photos of St. Louis soldiers in the Spanish American War (1898), ect. I have never seen these published by the Missouri Historical Society or anywhere else. They are fantastic. Where can we find them today ? P.S.: If you have not seen the movie "National Treasure", starring Nicholas Cage and you like history, you will love it--it is a history adventure (and is also about the Masons). --Scott K.
