I've been to the Moolah Temple but am not familiar with its background. I somehow thought the Shriners were related to the Masons? And the Masons are related to a Christian religion? The Shriners operate 22 Hospitals for Children at no charge to the child or parent. They spend about 1.6 million dollars a day in this philanthropic endeavor. Sorry for the seemly blatant commercial, but could not restrain myself in answering her question. Bill Houdek Ballwin, MO [email protected]
All Shriners are Masons but not all Masons have elected to Join the Shrine. It is necessary one be a Master Mason in order to petition the Shrine for membership. One requirement for initiation into the Masonic Fraternity is to profess in a belief in God or a Supreme Being. Christians, Jews, Moslems, and most other Religions are comfortable in the Masonic Orders. The teachings are Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth. One's station in life is left at the door and all are equals. Again, probably more of a response than requested but the question seemed to need more than a one word reply.
