I just uploaded a new lot of old St. Louis postcards that I added to my collection. Some pretty fascinating views. Really makes history come alive seeing people going about their daily lives captured in these antique cards. Among my new acquistions is a real photo of a half sunken steamboat being boarded by curiousity seekers. The identification of this vessel is a mystery. The boat name seems to be "Gunderson", which is inscribed beneath image. Appears to be the Mississippi, north of Alton, but that is a guess. Other new acquistions are a few new Illinois cards for Alton and East St. Louis. A real photo of Meramec Highlands, showing the resort and Frisco railroad track (this is present day Kirkwood). An early view of University City when it was on the edge of the forested countryside. I'll be adding new catagories, like Hotels/ Churches / Asylums/ Hospitals in the near future. I also have a lot of Jefferson Barracks cards to scan. (But that will have to wait until I get more time.) Feel free to enjoy the new views I have just uploaded. --Scott Williams Antique Metro St. Louis Postcard Collection http://www.stlouistimeportal.com/
