    2. St. Englebert is now St. Elizabeth, Mother of John the Baptist Parish. I attended Mass there several years ago at which time it was still a beautiful, vibrant church. On the archdiocesan web site, St. Englebert is shown as Carter and Marcus but St. Elizabeth is shown as 4330 Shreve Ave. Peggy Kruse In a message dated 3/5/2007 5:28:22 A.M. The school was located on Carter Ave, we lived a block away at 4646 Carter and Marcus. The church was up a north a block and for the life of me can't remember the name of the street, but then again that was over 50 years ago. The church was beautiful, however in 1952, it was filled with scaffolding getting painted while I was getting married, during lent, so I had to get a dispensation etc. No flowers, no music -- more like going to a funeral, as friends told me later. 3. Peggy, The name of the st. I was looking for was Shreve. The school address was Carter and Marcus. The last time we were in St. Louis we went by Carter & Marcus. There were 3 -- 2story flats at that time all with bars on the windows and doors. We lived in the the third one and it was sad to see.
