Happy St Patrick's Day to ALL. The parade is over down here and all that is left to do is drink a few green one's. Even Josephine has finally got the hang of making a nice pot of corned beef and cabbage. The only thing I must be careful of and very vigilant about is; I must watch her carefully to see that she doesn't sneak a few pods of green chili into the pot. Last year when I complained her comment was: "What are you complaining about, Its green isn't it?" Yes, I told her, and so was my face. Hope everyone has a happy day.----Jim
James, Happy St Patrick's Day to you too! It is drizzling and cold in the Pacific Northwest on this Saturday. Yesterday it was above 50...beautiful and the two dogs loved being out all day! I guess I just let St Patrick's Day come and go without thinking much about it this year. Do you know anyone in the St Louis area researching Shockleys? Hiram H. Shockley...live there and then left for Arkansas and died there in 1896...buried at Winchester Ridge under an oak tree...south of Rogers, Arkansas. Hi Barb: Can't say I know any Shockley researchers in St Louis, but I knew of a Shockley who had the John Deere dealership in Cuba, MO back in the 1950s. The weather down here is Sunny and around 80 degrees. That coupled with Josephine's hot flashes, I don't think she even loves St Pat.----Jim ----- Original Message ----- From: Barbara Byrd<mailto:barbjbyrd@yahoo.com> To: mo-stlouis-metro@rootsweb.com<mailto:mo-stlouis-metro@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, March 17, 2007 4:35 PM Subject: Re: [MO-STLOUIS-METRO] St Patrick James, Happy St Patrick's Day to you too! happy St. Pat's to you too Jim. WE had our corned beef and cabbage, Shamrock cookies, I can't go the green beer, so I fixed Grasshopper made with ice cream. It was good!!! I lived in KC for 20 years and miss going to their parade. I have never been down to the St. Louis one. My husband and I were just commenting that 10 or 15 years ago, we would still be going strong, just heading out of the downtown area to the neighborhood pubs!!!!! But here in our small town now, tis just another day!!! LOL.
