Kathleen: Tis a good thing my e-mail started working again today or I would never have known you were leaving. It just so happens that I have a book or two for sale that would be a must for every library in the country. For instance: "For sale" 1. According to Hoyle, by Richard L. Frey-Copy right 1963. Paper back edition. 2. Webster's Encyclopedia of Dictionaries, by unknown group of authors-CR approx. 1957. Hard cover. 3. I The Jury, by Mickey Spillane-CR early 1950s. Paper back edition. All books properly yellowed for authenticity and heavily dog eared with no more than six or seven missing pages in any volume. As to leaving your desk; I'm not sure I totally approve of that decision. What if I get lost and need help finding my way through the streets and back allies of our fair City, what do I do then? Be sure you give this weighty matter a certain amount of deep and concentrated thought. Should you still decide to take this prestigious promotion, then I give you my support and remember; we still love you.----James O. ----- Original Message ----- From: Smith, Kathleen<mailto:HG0102@slpl.org> To: 'mo-stlouis-metro@rootsweb.com'<mailto:'mo-stlouis-metro@rootsweb.com'> Sent: Monday, August 13, 2007 9:42 AM Subject: Re: [MO-STLOUIS-METRO] note from Kathy @ the library Dear Genealogy Folks, I wanted to let everyone know that as of Aug. 20, I am leaving the genealogy department. I have a new job in the Collection Development Department (I get to buy books). I have really enjoyed helping everyone with their genealogy, and I wish you all ancestors with unique names and easy-to-read records. The staff of the St. Louis Public Library will be here to answer all your genealogy questions - email them at mailto:webref@slpl.org<mailto:webref@slpl.org> . And plan on attending the George Schweitzer/Lloyd Bockstruck lecture on Sept. 8 - it'll be a great time! I have come to think of many of you as friends, and I will miss you all.
