Hi List, My second attempt to post this on the correct list!! Ironic that we should be discussing Bettie Mae on Mother's Day. Jim is going to tell us more of the sad story. He wanted me to post my reply to him to the list. Hope this works !! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi Jim, Many thanks for Betty Mae's picture which opened just fine. She certainly is a real beauty. A very refined, ladylike look. But a certain sadness in her eyes. My thoughts on the photo itself. Does not look like a 'studio' portrait. The lighting is not dramatic enough. But the photographer's logo seems to be "Hollywood" --which indicates she is still there in 1942. Can you tell our list members how the two children turned out after 10? years in the orphanage? I suppose there were no aunts for the kids to go to ?? How did she support herself before she gave the kids up ? Was there ever a reconciliation ? Again much appreciation. Kitty -
