Laura sent messages to those of us for whom she had our email addresses. The lists were messed up and no one was getting anything. I just got an email bounced back that I had sent to the list over six days ago. I was wondering if i had been dropped off the list - i received nothing for 2 days
In case you did not notice, the email list was off line for a few days. I tried to contact list members where I had their address in my personal address book. I am sure I missed many of you! If you ever wonder if there is a problem with the list, we are on List2...go to http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/ and you will see any problems highlighted there in yellow. This is the same information I have access to as your list administrator. Sorry for the inconvenience but there was some server issues going on and we were not the only list affected. Welcome back! Laura
Trying this again (these cats are totally ruining this experiment...) Lisa ----- Original Message ----- From: Bill and Lisa Kemp To: MO-STLOUIS-METRO-L Sent: Wednesday, October 15, 2003 7:31 PM Subject: McQuilan/McQuillan for Jim Hey Jim, I was at the library yesterday doing Whitworth research and came across something interesting. Are you still working the McQuillan thing? If so, maybe these folks would be of interest to you. It was a guy named Bernard (?) Williams. Under his name was George E. McQuilan and Mary C. McQuilan and they were listed as STEP CHILDREN. I found them in the 1860 Census, Camden County, Russell Township, Missouri, Little Niangua Post Office. Bernard was #328. I saw them and thought of you. Hi Please help. There are on the web many table-like relationship charts. I seek a graphical one, not a Cox Chart, but, as I recall, one with many diagonal lines linking the persons. Bob Doerr in the beautiful Missouri Ozarks Please see http://www.rollanet.org/~bdoerr/contents.htm
Greetings, Listers! Recently, a friend got me thinking about old books. I went digging through some old books that I got at an auction many years ago and found a hand made class book of Jan 1918 by Clara Bangert. The book is full of many little photos of her classmates with their handwritten sayings or notes to her, their addresses and their signatures. This book also has The Irving School Graduating Exercises in the Yeatman High School Auditorium Program. It is dated Friday, Evening Jan 24 Eight-thirty O'clock 1919. It lists the kids, class officers and the program for the evening. I can list the people on the List or you can send me an email and I will look to see if your person is in there. I will take a digital photo of the person and send it to you if you want it. The most interesting thing of all is the story at the back of the book where the author, presumably Clara Bangert, writes the Class Prophecy of 1918 and includes her classmates in her futuristic story. It is very interesting. Gloria
http://www.englishfestivalstl.org/schedule.htm This one does not seem to have anything that involves genealogy. It does have a few cultural events like country dances and "royal tea". Some of this may be of interest to those with English ancestry. Wish they had included some genealogy along with the arts and culture. At least some history too. Looks like events happen at different times and places through Oct 30. Sorry if my earlier post was misleading. I would normally not post something that is not focused to St. Louis area genealogy or history. However, I had agreed to post this thinking it did have some focus to our group in terms of English ancestry / culture but it seems to have less than I was led to believe. Let me know (off list please) if you want these kinds of notes posted or not. Some members have requested info like this but I would like to know from the group if you do or don't. Laura

List: Those of you old enough to remember mils -- (for the rest, they were plastic chips issued to pay the various 1/10 cent taxes of goods) Two of us have been discussing privately and here's the question(s) What denomination were: Reds Greens and were there any other colors? Thanks Gary Stoltman Mercerville, NJ
Parking is easier in county....but u cannot beat the ambiance at city.....
Although the county library does have some microfilm readers that copy, not all of them do. In fact I believe they prefer you to do your research on those that don't copy and then transfer to a copier. Probably they are most crowded on weekends when people are not at work. It has been a while since I was at the MO Historical Museum library on Skinker, but I think all of the directories are now on microfilm The shelves where the actual directories had been were empty.
