CVK- So, The red plastic is 1/10 of a cent. The green plastic is 5/10s or 1/2 cent The grey plastic is 5/10s or 1/2 cent The zinc is 1/10 cent The zinc mil with whole is 5/10s or 1/2 cent? You mention the zincs were "receipts" and the plastic "greens'" & "reds" were "tokens" .What was the difference? If none, could I then assume the greens and zincs were not in circulation at the same time? I assume the zincs were before greens as I don't remember anything after the plastic "reds" & greens" plastic. Sent this when the List Server was down; not sure it came through so here it is again. Greetings, Listers! Recently, a friend got me thinking about old books. I went digging through some old books that I got at an auction many years ago and found a hand made class book of Jan 1918 by Clara Bangert. The book is full of many little photos of her classmates with their handwritten sayings or notes to her, their addresses and their signatures. This book also has The Irving School Graduating Exercises in the Yeatman High School Auditorium Program. It is dated Friday, Evening Jan 24 Eight-thirty O'clock 1919. It lists the kids, class officers and the program for the evening. I can list the people on the List or you can send me an email and I will look to see if your person is in there. I will take a digital photo of the person and send it to you if you want it. The most interesting thing of all is the story at the back of the book where the author, presumably Clara Bangert, writes the Class Prophecy of 1918 and includes her classmates in her futuristic story. It is very interesting. Gloria

It appears that the list is working correctly again and new mail is getting through in a timely manner. However, some of the other list owners are reporting that mail posted during the server being down may be lost in cyber space. If you posted something and never saw it come through. Go ahead and post it again tomorrow. That should give us more than a full day for the backlogs they talk about below to be cleared up. Another thing to do, is check our archives located at http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl?list=MO-STLOUIS-METRO Anything that made it through should be in the archives. If you ever wonder if there is a problem on the list check http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/ The yellow boxes tell you if something is going on. We are on list2 and we know that about half of the email lists were out for about a week. This is what was posted there just a few moments ago: Mail Lists: 2003-10-17 The mailing list server (LISTS2) that has been off-line for maintenance has now been turned back on, and e-mail is being processed. Mail will be processed from the queued mail concurrently with incoming mail. This will mean that not all mail will arrive chronologically until the backlog in the queue has been cleared. It will probably take the better part of the day to get mail from the queues to processing and then depending on the traffic to your ISP further time to get delivered. BIGPOND in Australia is having mail receipt problems and the e-mail delivery of LISTS2 has been slightly adversely affected. We will spool mail for Bigpond users until their servers recover. We did have difficulties with a small number of lists that has meant that these lists are not currently operational and will not be until we have manually checked and fixed any outstanding issues. A list is not currently available. When all else fails...you can always contact me directly at rbozzay@earthlink.net. I had cleaned out my address book about a week before this took place thinking...all the messages are stored in the archives, and the addresses are all in list tools for me...I don't need this...but I was wrong! I did have a few (less than 10% of our over 300 member email addresses in specific messages I had kept and tried to at least contact those of you I could. Sorry if I didn't have yours and you were not contacted. Hopefully this was a one time problem and we will be up and running smoothly from now on. Please keep this email so you have the contact links and then we might be able to keep in touch! Glad we are all back together again! Laura
I've lost another family member. My great grandfather, James Alfred Brasher, had a sister who married and then disappeared. My grandfather Ralph W. Brasher Sr never told me about his aunt Mahala. My gr-grandfather, James Alfred Brazier, changed the name to "Brasher" some time in the late 1880s prior to my grandfather's birth shortly before moving to Puxico, Missouri. I am hoping that some one on the list is researching the Stevens/stephens family in White county, Illinois near Carmi. I am searching for any Stevens offspring of Job Stevens and Mahala Brazier. Here is what I know about Mahala and Job: Mahala Brazier, b: 1867 at White County, IL James Alfred Brazier, b: 1869 at White County, IL Mahala Brazier and Job Stephens married: Aug 18, 1884 at Carmi, IL White County. Job was born 1859 Phillips, IL white County. My biggest questions are: where were they in 1890 and 1900 and where are they laid to rest? One Stevens family member speculates that they never left White County.----Jim
I think the fact that i and i assume everyone else is now getting backlogged mail indicates there was a problem somewhere - LOL - I got my own posting which was 3 days old
Now Lea: I can't believe you don't know the answer to at least one question.----Jim

You gotta be kidding, Jim. I can't even remember the ages of my grandchildren :-) Lea in KCMO Researching - Ripper, VonderHaar, Cirtautas, Gerst, Blumfelder, Hoelzer
Maybe your tube is clogged, Lisa. This came through just fine as did the second posting about your trip to the Library and what you found. Haven't been getting a rush of mail though, but guess we should be thankful for that. Lea in KCMO Researching - Ripper, VonderHaar, Cirtautas, Gerst, Blumfelder
What are the dates of these papers?
I have stumbled across memorabilia from the Yale Mustard Steinwender-Stoffregen Coffee Co. St. Louis U.S.A. Thought this is might of interest to someone on the list. If anyone wants the information please contact me off list. I am not selling this and do not the person who is. I just saw the name and the location as being St. Louis. Laura
Don't forget the offices of the St. Louis Countian/St. Louis Daily Record publications. Located at 612 2nd St. 4th floor in Lacede's Landing. You have to pay to park. Helmich's Liquor Store, John Menges, Pr I have stumbled onto something for sale that represents memorabilia for the above names. The liquor store was located at 1214 1/2 Biddle according to a note with the item. Email me in private if you want more information. (I am not selling this and have no idea about the reputation of the person who is...but since it had names for our area I thought it might be of interest to someone on the list). Laura
